Third person p.o.v.
"Bakugo," A voice called out, breaking the blonde boy's focus. He was sprawled across the green couch in the dormitory common room, eyes glued to his phone.
"What?" He huffed, not bothering to look up.
"I need you to spar with a student," Mr Aizawa's calm yet commanding tone left no room for argument. At the mention of sparring, Bakugo's demeanor shifted immediately. He stood up in a single fluid motion, his phone forgotten as he followed his teacher.
As they walked through the familiar corridors of U.A., Mr Aizawa continued, "I believe you've met your new classmate, L/N Y/N."
Bakugo didn't respond, but the slight hunch of his shoulders and the hands tucked in his pockets spoke volumes. He had, indeed, met the new kid on the block. She had a way of getting under his skin—something about her calm composure and the quiet confidence she carried. He wasn't sure if it irritated or intrigued him more.
"I need to test her to see if she's on par with the class," Mr Aizawa explained as they made their way toward Gym Gamma, the sparring arena that was notorious for its advanced training facilities.
Bakugo grunted in acknowledgment. His mind was already shifting into battle mode, focusing on the task at hand. He had been itching for a good fight, and if Y/N could provide that, he wasn't going to complain.
When they finally arrived at the gym, Mr Aizawa stopped in front of the large double doors. "No quirks," He reminded Bakugo, his voice firm. It was a standard rule for these kinds of tests—to gauge pure combat skills without the added advantage of their quirks.
"Yeah, yeah," Bakugo muttered, rolling his shoulders to loosen up. He was more than confident in his abilities, quirk or no quirk.
The doors to the gym slid open, revealing a wide, well-lit space with various training equipment scattered around. But what caught Bakugo's attention was the figure in the center of the gym, her back turned to them. Y/N was stretching, her movements fluid and precise, completely focused on preparing her body for the upcoming spar. Her h/c hair was tied back, exposing the nape of her neck, and her f/v/c athletic wear accentuated the toned muscles that hinted at her strength.
For a moment, Bakugo simply watched her. There was something about the way she moved—graceful, yet with a coiled energy that promised power. She didn't need to see them to sense their arrival. Y/N straightened up slowly, turning around to face her opponents. Her eyes locked with Bakugo's, and for a brief second, neither of them moved.
"So, you're my opponent?" Y/N's voice was steady, almost casual, but there was an underlying challenge in her tone.
Bakugo smirked, his competitive spirit ignited by her confidence. "Damn right I am," He replied, stepping forward with his usual swagger. "You better not hold back."
Y/N's lips quirked up in a small smile. "Wouldn't dream of it."
Mr Aizawa stepped back, giving them space. "Remember, no quirks. I want to see how you both handle this."
The tension in the air was palpable as the two faced off. Y/N took a deep breath, grounding herself as she assumed a fighting stance. Bakugo mirrored her, his eyes narrowing as he assessed her form. There was a brief, charged silence before the teacher signaled for them to begin.
Bakugo launched forward, closing the distance between them in a heartbeat. He was fast—faster than Y/N expected—but she was ready. She dodged his initial strike, spinning on her heel to counter with a quick jab aimed at his ribs. Bakugo blocked it effortlessly, his grin widening with a mixture of thrill and confidence.
