"Stop reading that novel!" Hannah snatched the book from Karlie's hands. "If I don't distract myself, my nerves will burst."

Karlie massaged her temples. "Relax, Karlie, nothing will happen. It's just your engagement; be happy."

I caressed her shoulder. "Hey, we're almost there. Let's focus on the fun parts."

Hannah and Karlie were at my workplace, S&D Fashion, where I was wrapping up my tasks before we headed to the boutique to pick up our dresses. Sarah couldn't join us due to her internship, while Karlie took a well-deserved break from the hospital.

"One week left... what if it's too early?" Karlie's voice trembled.

Hannah chimed in, "I told you, we can always make a run for it!"

I stood up, gesturing for them to follow. "Let's see your dress, Karlie. It'll calm your nerves."

Just then, a deep, familiar voice echoed through the room. "Looks like you're leaving, Amelia?"

I turned to face Damian, his chiseled features and piercing eyes making my heart skip a beat. His tailored suit accentuated his broad shoulders, exuding confidence.

"Damian! Good to see you again!" Hannah waved enthusiastically.

"I've already cleared my schedule with my manager," I replied, trying to sound casual despite the flutter in my chest.

"Then I'll see you at the engagement," Damian said with a warm smile, his eyes locking onto mine for a moment before he turned to leave.

Hannah whispered, "Girl, you're practically drooling!"

Karlie choked on her juice, and I playfully slapped Hannah's arm. "Shut up!"

Hannah continued, "Seriously, he was eyeing you like he wanted to devour you whole!"

I laughed, feeling a blush rise. "You're ridiculous, Hannah."

Karlie asked, "Wait, was he talking about my engagement? Did you invite him?"

"No, he's friends with Christian," I clarified.

Karlie's eyes widened. "I had no idea."

I ushered them toward the door. "Come on, ladies, we're running late!"

As we left the building, the warm sunshine and bustling streets enveloped us, pushing aside the lingering tension.
