Here's a little recap
------------------------THIRD PERSON POV
"She's with the doctors." Angela said"Why didn't they call me?" Tim asked
"She asked that Tamara be called." Angela said
"I should have been there!" Tim said mainly to himself
"You can't do that." Angela said."You can't be here as her ex-boyfriend. I know this is going to sound mean. But Tim. You don't have the right to be here as her boyfriend. Not anymore."
----------------------------------------
THIRD PERSON POV
Tim didn't like hearing that. But he knew Angela was right. Somewhere in his mind. He knew Angela was right.
ANGELA POV
"Tim. You know I'm right." I say."I know it's not what you want to hear. But you know I'm right."
He nodded and sat down. I took a seat next to him.
TAMARA POV
John and I were still sitting together in silence. Comfortable silence. But there was a conversation that we probably needed to have.
"I can help." John said
"What?" I asked
"I can see it on your face. You're trying to figure out how to ask me for help." He said
"I know she's going to be fine. But I'm worried about it when I'm at school. And I've moved out like what if she needs something and I'm not there." I said
"First, congratulations on moving out. I didn't get the chance to tell you that.
So proud of you for that." John said,"Second. She's going to be okay. She's going to probably be sore for a couple of days. Bailey and I can come by any time Lucy needs us to. The same goes for you.""Okay. Thank you. I needed to hear that." I said
"You'll be more relaxed when you see her." He promised
"You think?" I asked
"Yeah." He said
"Who called Tim?" I asked
"I think Grey did when he called her parents." John said,"But I don't know."
"Why did he call her parents?" I asked
"I know she doesn't have the best relationship with them. But with protocol, he has to do it." He said
I hummed in understanding
NYLA POV
"Okay. Aaron. She's going to be fine." I said."I need you to walk me through everything. Step by step."
"It came across as a possible domestic. Lucy got dispatch to attach us to that call. So we went over to the address. It was weird. It was like super quiet. We confirmed it was the right place with dispatch. Lucy said to get my gun out, just in case. We both looked through the curtains and asked each other if we'd seen anything. But the gun shots rang out. And the next thing I know. Lucy says my name, and she collapses. I catch her before she hits the ground. Then I call the 10-13." Aaron said
"Hey Thorsen. You did everything right." Angela said."You called for backup. You did everything right."
"Angela's right. You did good." Grey said
"Did they catch the shooter?" Aaron asked
"He was gone by the time the cavalry arrived." Grey said
"We do have the name of the owner of the house. They're tracking him down as we speak." I said to Aaron
THIRD PERSON POV
There were several conversations happening at once. While everyone waited to see their friend.
Not much longer after they got the verdict that Lucy was okay. After about thirty minutes, a nurse came back and told them they could go ahead and see her.
"She's awake. She's stable. She's going to have to spend a few more hours here at least. We just want to make sure nothing unexpected pops up and so that we don't have to admit her." The nurse said."She's right through that door."
The nurse gestured to the trauma room door.
Lucy was awake. She was sitting up on the hospital bed. Looking deep in thought.
"How are you feeling?" Tamara asked
"Sore. Very sore. But all things considered. Okay." Lucy said
ANGELA POV
Everyone could tell that she was tired from the meds.
But everyone was happy to see her awake and breathing.I did keep an eye on Tim. He stood next to me. His eyes were screaming he had something to say. But he knew. He had to be there as a friend and coworker.
I did give Tim credit. He did say that he was going to make it up to her in as many small doses as it took. I'd say this is a small dose that is a step in the right direction.
Lucy did show him uncommon kindness and compassion. Even when Tim didn't deserve it. She was still loyal and kind to Tim.
Everyone had their moment with Lucy. Quick hugs or a quick word.
When Tim and I came up to the side of her bed. Lucy initiated reaching out for the hug with Tim.
She hasn't forgiven completely yet. As she shouldn't. She needs to take as much time as she needs.
They're both incredibly stubborn.
But they both clearly love each other. Even if their relation isn't what it was.
Not anymore. Someday their relationship will get back to somewhere close.
