Let's ask the mini genius

Seashell paced up and down the length of her cave. Copper watched her, kind of, eyes clouded in thought.

"What if-no. Maybe we could- that won't work." Seashell hissed in frustration, her fluorescent scales flashing in words that should not be translated.

"What are you thinking?" Copper asked in amusement.

"I'm thinking about how we'll get to Pantala without dropping out of the sky from exhaustion," Seashell muttered. Turning one plan over in her mind. It couldn't work.

But could it?

No.

But maybe?

Yes, it could. It could!

"IT COULD!" Seashell shouted. "Copper, what if we fly lower? Close to the ocean?"

Copper listened, her wings twitching with curiosity. "Lower? Isn't that risky? What about the waves, or big strong gusts of wind knocking us into the water? Not all of us are SeaWings." She reminded her friend.

Seashell jumped up excitedly. "The air close to the water is smoother. We could glide more easily if we stay low, avoiding the stronger winds higher up, and then we won't get knocked into the water."

Copper tilted her head. "I have a feeling you don't know as much as you're making it out to be."

Seashell hesitated. "I'm not sure about all the details. I've heard it could work, but I don't know enough to be certain."

Copper nodded. "Let's ask Firefly."

Seashell's eyes lit up. "Yes, let's ask the mini genius!"

Seashell and Copper raced through JMA, looking everywhere. Well, not quite everywhere.

"Fireflyyyyyyy?" Copper called. "I'm in here!" Came the muffled reply. She was in the library. Again.

"Firefly!" Seashell said, bouncing with excitement. "We need your help!"

Firefly blinked, curious. "What's going on?"

Copper jumped in. "Seashell has this idea to fly low over the ocean to save energy. She thinks we can glide right above the water instead of flapping all the time. Apparently that'll help us conserve energy. But little miss smarty pants doesn't know as much as you!"

"Flying low? It could work."

Seashell hurriedly explained, "So, we want to fly close to the ocean where the air is smooth. My dad told me once that it's easier flying closer to the water. We wouldn't have to work as hard because we'd just be gliding some of the time."

Firefly thought for a moment. "That could work. The air near the water is usually pretty steady. But there are a few things to think about."

"Like what?" Copper asked, caution taking over.

"Well," Firefly began, "the air can change suddenly, especially if the weather changes. You'll need to keep an eye on the wind.

Seashell nodded, her positivity dimming a little. "What about dangers from flying so low?"

Firefly's wings fluttered as she explained, "You might run into problems like big waves or sudden weather changes. And flying so close to the water can make you more vulnerable to storms or temperature shifts."

Copper looked thoughtful. "So, we have to check the weather a lot." She said slowly.

"Yup." Firefly agreed. "It can be sort of dangerous, especially if you're flying in a storm. Which you wouldn't be stupid enough to do, right?"

Seashell giggled. "Yes, we won't be stupid." She confirmed.

A/N: I used ChatGPT to tell me about ways to cross the ocean, but I wrote my own script, don't worry. I think it's true, but if it's not it'll just be apart of the magic talking dragon series.
