Time seemed to slow since Elina and Feyre had begun their secret affair beneath the watchful eyes of the bitter High Lord. Allowing themselves one night a week to flee from the estate and bathe beneath the night sky, only the stars and the moon as their witness. Each kiss was longing, desperate as they clung to each other, lingering touches and sweet words like sacred prayers as they indulged in each other. It was beautiful and tragic all at once.

"You know, Elina, as much as I enjoy your company this is becoming a tad obsessive," Lucien murmured, he was laid out on his bed, a book spread across his legs while Elina lay beside him, head tucked beneath his chin. The fae was drifting in and out of consciousness, soothed by the steady beat of Lucien's heart.

"Your fault for choosing an orphan as your best friend," Elina replied hazily, voice thick with sleep, her response bringing a surprised chuckle from Lucien, looking down at the girl who remained still, but a small smile tugged at the corners of her lips.

"What a thing to say," He mused, planting a kiss atop Elina's head, "But you were never this cling before," He commented, Elina sighed quietly, sucking her bottom lip between her teeth.

"I just hate that he's with her, obsessing over her day and night, taking her out of the manor and wooing her with his High Lord charms while I'm stuck here," She huffed out, rolling over so that her face was pressed against Lucien's neck. "Once a week, that's all I get with her, Luc,"

"I'm so sorry, Elina," Lucien said, "I should have seen long ago what he was becoming," He shook his head, red hair fanning over his face and neck.

"It's not your fault," Elina argued lightly, pulling back to look at the male who was more a father to her than anything else, who had raised her as his own even when he didn't have too.

"I brought you here to protect you, Lina, and I failed you. I failed your mother," His words pierced like a knife and Elina's wilting dreamers heart ached.

"Don't you ever think that you failed her, Lucien!" Elina said fiercely, pushing herself up and glaring down at the man, "You took me in when I had no one, brought me back from the edge and never asked for a thing in return. You saved my life." The fae's chest was heaving, emotion welling in her chest hot and fast, love, anger, grief, longing. For a fae all of those emotions could be catastrophic, they felt too hard too fast, their lives a mixture of impulse and passion. But Elina loved, she loved like the stars were falling.

"You saved mine too, Elina," Lucien said, his tone thick, tears glistening in his deep russet eyes.

"I love you," Elina said, her words sounded like a promise of forever.

"I love you," Lucien echoed, bringing the pink haired fae back into his arms and holding her until the sun began to fade and the pain began to sink beneath the waves.
