Chapter 34

A few weeks have passed since the tense dinner with the family. Fatima has spent some time healing and regaining her strength, supported by Zac, Madam and her mom's unwavering love and support. Now, she is feeling much better and is ready to return to work.

**Zac's House**

Fatima POV:

I woke up about half an hour earlier than the time set on the alarm, the excitement of going back to work kept me up almost all night. I stretched under the sheets, feeling the comforting weight of Zac's arm draped over my waist. I turned to face him, smiling as I saw his peaceful, sleeping face. It is my first official day back at work, and I was ready to dive back into my professional life. As much as I loved the time Zac and I spent cocooned in our love nest, I miss the rhythm and pace of my job. Plus, Zac and I need to quickly wrap up the Preston Inc acquisition and get people's lives in order. He refused to continue the project with Andi, and was adamant on it being my baby. Carefully, so as not to wake him, I slipped out of bed and tiptoed to the bathroom to get ready. After I was done, I stepped out and wrapped myself in a towel. I caught my reflection in the mirror... My goodness, I need to get back to the gym, all this relationship weight I have gained since Zac and I started dating needs to go!

Back in the bedroom, Zac was stirring, his eyes blinking open as he reached out instinctively for me. When he realized I wasn't there, he sat up, looking around until he spotted me coming out of the bathroom.

Zac: Good morning beautiful

I smiled at him, walking over to give him a quick kiss.

Fatima: Good morning! It's my first day back at work today! (beaming with excitement)

Zac: (feeling proud) I know, you ready?

Fatima: More than ready! It's been too long.

Zac: I see I'm about to have to fight for your time with your first love huh?

He said as he pulled me into his lap, wrapping his arms around me.

Zac: I'm so proud of you babe, you've made huge strides in these past few weeks.

I leaned my head against his shoulder, enjoying his embrace. He kissed the top of my head.

Fatima: I couldn't have done it without you though.

Zac: I'm pretty sure you could've but you didn't have to.

Fatima: I know, and that's why I love you.

We shared a tender kiss and I pulled away because there's no way Zac is going to make me late on my first day.

**WilBarn Offices**

I stepped out of the elevator into the lively WilBarn office. The familiar sounds of ringing phones and chatter greeted me, bringing a wave of Nostalgia and excitement. As I walked through the office, I was greeted by warm smiles and welcoming nods from my staff. It felt so good to be back, to feel the energy of the place I had missed so much. I made my way towards Amanda's desk where she greeted me with a hug. 

Amanda: Welcome back, boss lady! It's so good to see you!

Fatima: (smiling) Thanks Amanda. It's great to be back, I missed this placed!

Amanda: Well, we missed you too. Everything has been running smoothly in your absence, Miss Barnes and I worked tirelessly to make sure you have a firm to come back to.

Fatima: I appreciate y'all so much for that. Is she in?

Amanda: Not yet, I'll be sure to let her know to see you when she gets here.
