I took a deep breath and knocked on the door of Chetan sir's cabin, my heart racing with anticipation. I had been wondering what he wanted to talk to me about since he called me this morning , as soon as I reached the office. Was it about the loan? Had he finally spoken to Ranvijay sir?
"Come in," Chetan sir's voice called out from inside.
I pushed open the door and stepped inside, trying to read his expression. But as usual, his face was neutral, giving away nothing.
"Good morning, Radhika," he said, gesturing for me to take a seat. "Good morning sir" I passed him a small smile as I took the seat in front of him.
I looked at him, my mind still racing with possibilities. Was this good news or bad news? I couldn't tell. I just wish he agrees. I really need it badly.
"So, what's this about, sir?" I asked, trying to sound calm.
Chetan sir leaned back in his chair, steepling his fingers together. "I spoke to my boss yesterday," he said, his voice measured.
My heart skipped a beat. This was it. This was what I had been waiting for.
"And?" I prompted, my voice barely above a whisper.
Chetan sir's expression was sympathetic. "I'm afraid it's not good news, Radhika."
My heart sank, feeling like a punch to the gut. I had been hoping against hope that Ranvijay sir would agree to the loan, but now it seemed like that was just a pipe dream.
"What did he say?" I asked, trying to keep my voice steady, but it came out barely above a whisper.
Chetan sir sighed, his expression softening. "He said no, Radhika. He refused to consider the loan. I'm sorry."
I felt a lump form in my throat as I tried to process the news. No, this couldn't be happening. I had to save the orphanage, I had to help Uncle.
"I...I see," I managed to stammer, trying to hold back tears.
Chetan sir leaned forward, his voice gentle. "Radhika, I'm so sorry. I know how much this meant to you. But we can't give up yet. We'll find another way, okay?"
I nodded, trying to smile, but it felt forced. Another way? What other way? I had tried everything, and now it seemed like all hope was lost.
"Radhika" he called out my name, bringing me out of my zone as I looked at him being startled.
"There is a policy in our company. We don't provide loan to the new comers, atleast an employee should have worked here for two years then only we give them loan that to according to their salary, so that they don't get any trouble while returning the taken money"
