Sans stepped forward. He looked as if he was going to take multiple steps towards VOID - but then he realised just how much that thing scared him, and settled on just one.
"you seem... uh...? angry? wanna talk about it?"
VOID seemed amused, until that little piece of emotion flashed away and was replaced by the former anger and pain. Sans couldn't help but ponder on where the pain was coming from.
It was meant to be unharmable, but here it was, clearly in pain.
Sans then remembered how it showed a similar display of shock when it phased through his bones beforehand.
But the records showed that it should be able to ignore physical barriers with ease? Why was it selectively doing so and being harmed by it?
Sans was lost in thought, yes. But he knew better to let his guard down. He was balancing his inner rambling and his fixation on the enemy infront of him.
By now, Papyrus had joined his side, filled with confidence.
"Why don't you tell us about yourself?" He attempted. VOID wouldn't move. "My studies showed that your chance to become my friend increases massively after a battle!"
Sans felt the need to do something. He flickered through ideas in his mind before landing on the simplest one.
CHECK
He concentrated, amplifying the original spell in a way only a Judge could manage. The world around him softly glowed, no one else could see what he was seeing. SOUL'S popped into view, and text showing extensive statistics hovered beneath them.
He focused on one thing only.
"VOID" - ATK 66666 DEF 66666 HP 666666
EXP: ???
LOVE: ???
KILLS: 1
Sans didn't know what to make of the information. VOID only had one kill, apparently. It could make sense, but VOID as a collective figure had only formed a day ago, meaning that it had got that kill in that time frame. The statistics also weren't doing himself any favours in terms of diminishing the fear he had built up.
Sans looked down at himself momentarily. He never, ever liked what he saw, and always saw.
Sans - ATK 90 DEF 5 HP 1250
EXP - 300
LOVE - 7
KILLS - 3
He didn't look for long. He ignored it. He'd seen it so many times, now wasn't the time to fuss about the choices he made and what he's done.
He looked back at VOID, their SOUL shining as bright as anyone else's. He wanted to take a look, but he kept his distance.
And then, like it had heard him, it lunged forward. VOID had changed stance in an instant, like a poor animation. One frame between a standing stance and a horizontal one, hurdling towards the skeleton. Sans reacted instantaneously, moving out of the way and - to be sure, giving Papyrus a slight push to keep him clear.
VOID flew past Sans. Asgore was right behind Sans. With similar sharp reactions, he shoved a trident into VOID's head, sending it into the air due to the two directional forces clashing. It didn't stay in the air long, instantly shifting into a black smoke and reappearing on the ground.
"I DISLIKE MY FORM." It spoke in its hideous voice. It then shed its VOID substance from its bottom half of its body, forming something resembling legs. The discarded goop created three different figures that shifted into something resembling miniature VOID's. Frisk shuddered, realising that they were nearly identical to the monster they had been forced to kill.
