Camila's POV

Lauren had zero hesitation in showing her affection in public. She caressed me, hugged me, and kissed me in public whenever she felt like. I enjoyed it, even though I was shy because I was not used to it. She laughed when she saw me blushing after Normani and Keana teased us. They knew she was an affectionate person but to show so much affection as she was showing to me was unusual. It surprised Keana who never saw Lauren like this, while Normani was happy to see it again after so many years. Lauren reluctantly left the table when usually she would go around a bit to greet those she knew.

"Go! I will be fine," I asked her to do what she usually would.

"Alright!" She kissed me before she stood up. "Please, don't leave her alone." She told Normani and Keana.

Lauren left us to greet some friends. She did not leave me alone. She left me with Normani and Keana. I told Normani and Keana that they could leave me too if they had to talk to some friends or acquaintances. I would be fine by myself at this table. I had my phone and desserts which were enough to make me occupied. Normani and Keana took turns to leave the table but they never left me alone. When Keana's friends stopped by, Keana introduced me to them. I left them when I needed to use the restroom.

.

"Did you see that girl?" A woman said when I just sat on the toilet.

"Yes!!!" Another woman said. "It's kind of different this time."

"Right?! Probably, it's her first job, and she can't afford some good makeup just yet." The first woman said, and three of them deviously laughed.

I did not like, listening to such a conversation despite whom they were talking about. It was a mean girl's vibe kind of conversation. I had no choice. I had to use the toilet.

"She's beautiful, tho." The third girl said. "Probably, in her early twenties."

"Well, not bad! But still..." The first woman said.

I finished my business and I wanted to leave this place. I was about to open the door but I froze when one of them spoke

"Don't worry, Jess!" The second woman told her, "I'm sure she is just another casual date. She is not even Lauren's type."

I froze with my hand on the lock. Did they mean my Lauren or another Lauren? Were they talking about me? My mind started to spin and I recalled what they just said. I got anxious in no time. I did not think I could handle seeing their faces. I took a few deep breaths, trying to calm myself down. I did not know who they were, but why they talked about me like that. I tried to think positively, telling myself that they were not talking about me. Probably, it was just another Lauren and another woman. I failed when I heard what they said next.

"But, I never saw her so lovey-dovey like that before." The third woman said again.

"She's just in her mood. It's New Year's Eve, girls!! It's impossible to think our Ms. J would fall in love with someone like her." The second woman said.

"Yeah, I am sure she is just like other women Lauren had screwed," The first woman said. "Lauren is out of her league."

"Let's get back to the party!" They left.

I made sure they left before I came out of the toilet. I was so lost in my thoughts when washing my hands that I did not know someone entered the restroom.
