The Secluded Trails of Deceit

As soon as my mind was settled on that matter, I immediately drove away and went back in a hurry to my condo unit. Hindi ako tumigil o lumingon pa at dire-diretsong tinahak na lamang ang daan paakyat. I didn't even bother taking my materials and projects with me; all I know is that I was catching my breath as I walked at a hastily pace.

With my slightly trembling hands, I managed to open the door for a quiet while. Sa ginta nga no'n ay naririnig ko pa ang mga malalabo, ngunit malalakas na boses nina Izelle at Amber na tila nag-aaway.

"What do you want me to do, really?! I said I was sorry, diba? I'm sorry!" That's the first thing I heard — Amber's lashing out in front of them — right when I opened the door.

Nasa sala silang tatlo ngayon, nakatayo at nasa loob ng sarili nilang mundo. Magkaharap sina Amber at Izelle, habang nakabantay sa pagitan nilang dalawa si Ais. Not wanting to burst the tension so I could feed my curiosity, I gently closed the door behind me.

Izelle scoffed sarcastically in return. "Aanhin ko 'yang sorry mo, Amber? Mababalik ba niyan ang nakaraan?! Masasauli ba niyan si Sa—"

"Then stop blaming me!" Her eyes widened in rage and annoyance. "For goddamn sake's lang ah..? You're not much of a help either, but why ba patuloy ka pa rin sa mga pagpaparinig mo sa'kin!"

"Alangan namang manahimik ako! Tanga ka ba talaga?!"

Amber's chuckled without any humor on it. "Now, you're calling me tanga..? When it's you who's being plain stupid right now..?"

Izelle's head tilted, "Ako pa talaga..?" hindi makapaniwala at taas-kilay na tanong niya.

"Yes, indeed, Olivette Danzelle! Who else?! Other than your ass!" Tinuro siya ni Amber ng may kunot sa noo at nanlilisik na mga mata. "If you really want to fix this mess, then you shouldn't have wasted your time on me in the first place! Why don't you just shut your darn mouth and focus your last remaining energy on finding her, huh?!"

Feeling a huge amount of stress from their on-going bickering, Ais couldn't help but to shut her eyes as she breathed a huge air, "Stop it already." bagot at nagtitimping saad niya.

"Ulul ka!" Izelle pointed her index finger right by Amber's head. Ilang beses niya ring tinulak si Amber ro'n, hanggang sa higitin siya ni Ais papalayo. "Kamo, in the first place, kung nag-iisip ka, edi, hindi tayo aabot sa gan'to!"

Amber gulped down heavily before she sniffed her now running nose. "What's done is done! There's nothing I could do—"

"Pero ang galing mo, eh, no? Ang lakas mong magsalita kahit na wala ka rin namang maitulong!"

"Do you even hear yourself?" Umiling siya, naguguluhan at nalilito na. "How much is it from what I did that justifies your current attitude?!"

"Bakit..? Ginawa ko naman lahat, ah! Ginawa ko na lahat, Amber! Kung saan-saan ako pumunta at kung kani-kanino ako nagtanong simula pa lang kanina!" Suddenly, a lone tear fell on Izelle's cheek, which she wiped away in an instant. "Pero... Wala akong nakuhang 'ni isang sagot, diba?"

"Then would you get it from harassing me?!"

"Ang akin lang naman, sana... Nagsabi ka kaagad kung anong nangyayari. Hindi 'yong papalipasin mo pa ng isang araw!" Izelle attempted to walk near Amber, but Ais suddenly butted right in front of her to stop that. Ngunit hindi pa rin naman sapat kay Izelle 'yon para manahimik. "Anong gagawin natin ngayon nito, ha?! Una pa lang, alam mo namang hindi kayang matulog no'n na may kasamang iba, diba? Uuwi at uuwi 'yon kahit bumagyo pa man!"
