Maybe it wasn't the best idea to turn up on tates front door the very next morning. Lilith had been waiting since sunrise for constance to leave with adelaide on her usual morning errands run before appearing on the front porch and knocking loudly to get the teen boys attention. Was it desperate? probably but Lilith preferred the word dedicated.

Tate answered the door with a confused look, his face instantly lighting up as he noticed who was at his front door. To tate, she looked ethereal. Dark washed shorts (despite the cold weather), a black vest that was partially covered by a patchwork zip up, her hair was down and a pair of converse rested on her feet. She looked comfortable.

Tate, similarly, looked cozy. Black jeans with a knitted jumper, his hair was messy from where he had been resting in bed all morning.

"you have perfect timing" tate chuckled, Lilith smiling happily as he lead the girl into the house and up to his room. the two making small talk on the way up.

Okay and maybe lilith shouldn't have instantly made herself comfortable, plopping herself down on the middle of his bed as he rushed around picking up his dirty laundry that scattered his room.

Lilith had seen that already but he didn't need to know.

He then settled on the edge of his bed, focusing himself on the wall instead of the pretty girl on his bed.

"what's on your mind" Lilith asked, it seemed to be a repeating subject now. He didn't know how she managed to get him to open up so quickly

"school" tate mumbled making Lilith sit up, scooting over to sit beside him, their arms touching as she pulled her knees up to her chest. Sitting similar to the night prior but this time, he was closer. She was real and not a figment of his deranged imagination trying to sabotage his every move

"ugh, school sucked. That's why i dropped out" Lilith shrugged, the lie escaping her lips quicker than her mind had worked "i do homeschooling now"

"i wish, everyone there is shitty. Everyone's minds are all in the same place" Tate rolled his eyes making Lilith giggle

"sex, drugs and parties" The girl leant her chin on her knee as she looked at him, a soft smile on her face

"exactly! and it's just, life isn't all about that you know, like we have to live after school, get jobs and move on" The blonde gave Lilith a brief look, relieved that someone understood him. Truthfully Lilith didn't understand, that's what her alive years were all about too. Maybe more drugs than anything but that's besides the point.

"it's horrible, don't understand why everyone is so into it. I mean, sure sex is fun but not while your drink to the point of being unconscious and it's with a stranger" the girl nodded along, she needed him to know she was the same as him. had the same mindset even if she didn't really. It was needed, to be close to him just like they were then.

"thank you" tate let out a deep sigh of relief "i don't understand why people ruin themselves when they have so much to live for"

"it's almost like they don't deserve to live if they aren't caring about themselves" Lilith muttered, not wanting to step ahead of the boundaries of his mind but wanting to slowly inch towards the edge

Tat nodded, think in her words over for a moment before smiling slightly "i don't think i've ever met someone that understood me so well"

"your cute" Lilith chuckled, nudging his arm slightly as his cheeks rushed a deep red

"i don't know anything about you but you know everything about me" Tate finally turned to the girl, shuffling so he was sat facing her

"everything is pushing it" No it's not "go ahead. ask me anything"

"what music do you like" Lilith wasn't expecting that question, she was expecting something that would need her mind to create a quick lie. She smiled happily, turning to face him as she crossed her legs. Listing off a bunch of seventies bands that she like, watching carefully for tates reaction.

He didn't really have one, at least not expressively. A soft smile on his lips yet internally his mind was screaming. There wasn't many people in the town they called home who listened to anything from the seventies, she made him curious, wanting to get into the deepest parts of her brain to understand her fully. To tate, Lilith Bernard was an enigma.

And to Lilith. Tate was everything and more
