How did I get here?

7am, Wednesday

I woke up without an alarm. There was no hurry, my second semester at university was over and now I didn't even need to leave my apartment.

In fact, I'm living here on rent. I was born and raised in Spain, but I decided to rediscover new places, and I had met the love of my life one hot night in Barcelona. He told me he was working and living in Amsterdam, and I was so madly in love that after 1 month I was packing my bags and came here with him. Our love was unshakeable and I even thought we would start a family one day. Unfortunately, one cold February morning he woke me up and said he didn't love me anymore. I was in shock and didn't even realize what was happening. All I could think about was how I should pack my bags, which were not small at all, and move elsewhere. I didn't have many friends here, I spent most of my time here with him, the rest I was alone. At that moment I thought of a girl from university that I once worked with on a project together, Erica. We weren't close at all, but I was in a complicated situation. She took me into her home without even thinking twice. Since then we have been inseparable. Even now, when I live alone in a small apartment near the center. Erica started running her father's business this summer. It has to do with reselling fabrics for clothing that many big brands use. Since I'm not doing anything yet, I drop by her office from time to time to help her out or at least take her lunch. This girl doesn't even think to eat! But she does have such business sense... I love her and will always be grateful.

I got out of bed, went to the bathroom, put on my gym clothes and started to put my sneakers on. I decided that instead of doing nothing, I could attend a Pilates class. At that moment, my doorbell rang. I looked at the clock on my wrist - 7:32am. Who could it be?I opened the door and saw Erica's wide smile as she lifted her hands to see two coffees in one and a bag of fresh croissants in the other. Everything smelled wonderful. Simultaneously surprised and happy to see her.
-Erica?! - then I stepped aside for her to come in and took the drinks and food. I put them on the table and we sat down.
-Sorry for coming so early. I couldn't sleep of excitement! I could hardly stand not calling you all night!" - she spoke quite enthusiastically.
-Erica! What is it? What do you have to tell me? - I sniffled a little, because I wanted to know what was going on.
At that moment she took out two rectangular pieces of paper and threw them on the table. I saw that they were plane tickets and my eyes opened wider than coffee would have helped at that moment.
-Oh my God! Where are you going? - I squealed happily.
-You mean 'we're going'! You're coming with me to Turin! - she said excitedly.
-'Me? But why? What shall I do there? - I was surprised that she hadn't remembered that I wasn't in the mood to travel.

Yes, call me crazy, but I'm still suffering from my broken heart. Erica even says I'm overreacting.

-Belle, I'm sick of watching you rot in that apartment. I was even surprised you were getting ready to leave here a little while ago. I'm not taking no for an answer. - She smiled broadly at me.
-When's the flight? - I asked, maybe starting to think that this wasn't the worst idea in the world. How am I going to leave my best friend alone anyway!
-Tonight! That's why I want you to be very quick! - she said and stood up abruptly, heading for my closet.

8:22 pm

We're already at the airport, and everything happened so fast that I still can't make sense of what's going on. Eventually I realize that this trip was a surprise even to Erica, as her father told her almost at the last minute that she needed to travel to Turin to close some important deal and look around their potential new office there.

Well, let's see what's coming up...
