Severus pinched the bridge of his nose, sighing heavily as the weight of the day pressed down on him. It had been an exhausting, relentless day, filled with tasks that demanded his attention, leaving him with no time for the one thing that truly mattered—his family. No time with his family could only mean one thing: a grumpy Severus Snape.

Dolores Umbridge hadn't bothered him once since that day. He had heard from Rosabelle that Umbridge had also attempted to intimidate her, though it seemed to have little effect. What made Severus even prouder was how his son, Alaric, seemed to have taken an instant dislike to Umbridge. Severus couldn't help but smile, amused by how Alaric had already inherited Rosabelle's blunt, honest nature.

The moment he stepped inside his room, all his fatigue seemed to vanish as his eyes landed on the scene before him.

Alaric was sitting on the floor, his bright eyes wide with excitement as he watched a series of toys float and dance around him. Rosabelle, her wand elegantly guiding the movement, was seated beside him, her face glowing with happiness. The room was filled with Alaric's infectious giggles, each one a balm to Severus' weary soul.

"You like that, Al?" Rosabelle asked, her voice warm and playful. The joy in her eyes was unmistakable, and it instantly lifted Severus' spirits.

Rosabelle noticed Severus in the doorway and tilted her head with a soft smile. "Welcome back, Sev," she greeted him.

Severus felt a wave of relief wash over him as he crossed the room in just a few strides, pulling Rosabelle into a tight embrace. He held her close, savoring the moment, feeling the stress of the day melt away in her presence.

"I missed you and Al," he murmured, his voice tinged with a rare tenderness reserved only for his family.

Rosabelle smiled, wrapping her arms around him. "We missed you too," she replied softly.

As Severus held Rosabelle close, he breathed in her familiar scent, feeling his tension unravel with every second in her embrace. Rosabelle gently ran her fingers through his hair, a soothing gesture that always seemed to calm him. She pulled back slightly, just enough to meet his gaze, her eyes searching his face.

"You've been pushing yourself too hard again, haven't you?" she whispered, her voice laced with concern.

Severus sighed, his eyes closing briefly as he leaned into her touch. "It's nothing I can't handle," he replied, though the exhaustion in his voice betrayed his words.

Rosabelle smiled softly, brushing her thumb across his cheek. "You don't always have to handle it alone, Sev. I'm here for you, remember?"

He opened his eyes, and for a moment, the grumpy Potions Master was gone, replaced by a man who had found comfort in his wife. "I know," he murmured, pressing a kiss to her forehead. "And that's why I can keep going."

She leaned into his kiss, her heart swelling with love for him. "Then let me help you," she whispered, her voice tender and inviting.

Severus felt a warmth spread through him, a rare and precious feeling he cherished. "You already did," he said, his voice soft as he pulled her closer, resting his chin atop her head. "Just by being here with Al."

Their shared moment of peace was soon interrupted by the sound of Alaric's giggles, which drew their attention back to their son. Severus glanced over, expecting to see Rosabelle still guiding the toys with her wand. But as he turned, his eyes widened in surprise.

The toys were still floating, but Rosabelle's wand was resting on the floor beside her, untouched. The toys circled Alaric, who was now waving his tiny hands with glee, his laughter growing louder with each pass of the objects.

"Sev, look!" Rosabelle exclaimed, grabbing Severus' hand and pulling him toward their son. "He's doing it on his own!"

Severus stared in astonishment, his dark eyes reflecting a mix of awe and pride. "Alaric... he's already showing signs of magic," he murmured, unable to hide the rare smile that tugged at his lips.

Alaric turned his wide, curious eyes up at his parents. The toys bobbed slightly in the air before gently settling back to the ground, his small face breaking into a delighted grin.

Severus swiftly scooped his son into his arm, then wrapped his other arm around Rosabelle, pulling her close.

Draco Malfoy found himself smiling—a rare occurrence these days. It felt as though a part of him had been lost, buried beneath the weight of his father's expectations and the darkness that had overshadowed his life.

As he cradled Alaric in his arms, the baby wriggled excitedly, making Draco chuckle. "Sit still, Alaric, or else you're going to fall, and your parents... your dad especially, is going to kill me for it," Draco gently scolded, playfully bopping the baby's nose.

Alaric responded with a burst of giggles, his tiny hands slapping at Draco's cheeks.

"You like me that much, huh? Well, you should... maybe even more than that..." Draco's voice softened as he turned his gaze away from the baby, a brief shadow crossing his face. "Idiot," he muttered under his breath, careful not to let Alaric hear, before looking back at the baby. His expression hardened slightly as he added, "Potter."

Alaric gurgled happily, as if in agreement.

Draco's smile returned as he stroked the baby's chubby cheeks. "You shouldn't follow in my footsteps, alright? And definitely not Potter's."

Alaric let out a small whine, almost as if in protest.

Draco offered a sad smile. "I'm scared too, Al. But I swear, I won't let anything harm you." He gently took the baby's tiny hand in his, bringing it to his lips for a tender kiss.
