Jace's POV

I had two moments in my life so far that have my Ultimate gears rolling to resolve an immediate threat. The first was to save my family from Restore Laboratories.

Now, it was XO – they just – our father's just...

Snyper spits on the sidewalk in disgust as he kicks the back of his new car, useless with the flat tyres on both our rides. Neither of us knew how to change a flat tyre, either. We only half-paid attention every time our fathers tried to teach us. But that can wait.

"We need to get our girl, Snyper," I murmur under my breath as Snyper turns to me, he's livid and embarrassed, just like me; we both failed her, "You got any plans on how to snatch her back?"

Snyper thinks and holds out his hand from his pocket. I eye it, confused, but I grab it and then he explains, "Our. Girl. We have to agree on that first."

"Agreed, I'll share," I don't know if it's weird, but I don't have a problem with it now, especially that I needed the extra muscle to go against four grown ass super soldiers who doubled as our fathers.

"Don't react to the dogs coming up to have a yap," Snyper murmurs over me as he turns to face our gifts, crossing his arms as shadows move around us, followed by cocky Wade-like laughter.

Zenith fucking Alphas have come closer to gloat, sauntering up to see the damage.

"That's tough, they steal your kitty?" Wade murmurs over me and I turn to see Ariel hanging back with Irvine, looking concerned rather than smug for once.

"What's it to you?" I ask.

Wade steps out of my space and looks at me and says nothing, just starts holding out his hands.

I glance to Irvine, Micha and Terrell, who aren't laughing, just waiting for us to figure it out...

Snyper turns to stand next to me, guessing first, "...wait, you want to help or...?"

"At a price," Wade winks, "You'll owe us one."

"How can you help?" Snyper asks, "They're older than you."

"We're wolves, kid, our DNA is stronger," Wade drawls, "We're the only ones who can beat them into the ground. We respect them because... well... your sister loves them. It's her daddies. Otherwise, we'd have killed them... long ago." How dare he say that.

"Watch it, dog," I sneer as Wade just looks me up and down.

"Fine then, deal with it yourselves, kiddos," Wade turns and starts motioning for them all to leave.

Fuck.

"Wait," I change my tone, using respect, not attitude, "...I'm sorry."

"Come back," Snyper sighs, giving in too.

Ariel spins around first, with a soft smile, "What's that, little baby brothers?"

"Ariel, really," Snyper groans, but now the Zenith Alphas turn back to us too.

I murmur to Snyper, even though I know they can hear, "We got to earn it, Snyper."

Wade holds up a quick finger, "Now kid, you're learning something," Wade gives me a smile he's never given me before, "You have to earn respect in our world."

"So, you're going to help get our girl back or not? We don't want to look pathetic, though," I add, "XO will fucking hate seeing our asses beat."

"Cute, Jace," Ariel chuckles behind her lethal claws.

"You're not going to be outshone, boys," Wade lights a fresh cigar, "We're just backing you. You're doing the negotiating."

"You'll stand with us? That's all? That's your big favour?" Snyper can't help sounding unimpressed.
