"You think you funny huh?" I questioned Dakari the moment we stepped into the place he chose for our first date. It was a cooking class.
"No, I think I'm hilarious." He corrected while leading me to our station after offering his greetings to the teacher.
"You lucky ion rock long nails or this was gonna be a big problem."
Because if I can't cook with regular nails how would long nails help the situation?
That was the thought my mind raised, almost making me grin with amusement, but I kept my face straight until I heard Dakari's sweet and light laugh.
"Everyone pair up and go to your station, so we can get started."
Listening to the teacher's instructions everyone dismantled any group they were in and paired up.
"Here you go." Dakari voiced as he handed me an apron that I gladly accepted.
"Thank you." I mumbled, immediately slipping it over my head before moving my hands to my back so that they could tie to two pieces of cloth hanging freely to further secure the apron around me.
Now that, that simple task was complete my focus was redirected to Dakari who was now putting on his apron, though before his hands could even go to tie the cloth behind him, I did.
"Let me." I requested, and he didn't put up a fight as he allowed me to securely tie the back of his apron.
"Okay, let's begin by washing our utensils."
"So how was your day?"
Was the question he asked after our ears captured the instructions of the instructor and our bodies carried them out.
"Good, I ain't realised I needed all the things you provided today." I vented, still feeling the relaxing hands from the massage on my back as they worked through the tension within it, "Except this, you fell off when you planned this."
Receiving the ending of my sentence had him grinning as he knew I was just playing around, "I'm just tryna make sure you don't live off of takeout if I'm not home."
"What's wrong with takeout?" I questioned him, generally curious about his response and he shook his head in disbelief at my query.
"I ain't even gon answer that question, but you gon thank me sooner or later for this."
"Never ain't an option?"
More sounds and looks of amusement left him and me as we focused on our task at hand.
"So how was your day?" I inquired, wondering what he had been doing in my absence as I washed the objects he had just lathered and scrubbed with a soap filled sponge.
"Good, I won some money from your brothers and Will and then I went to the casino to handle some business." He briefed me, and I took his sentence into mind before deciding which part I wanted to respond to first.
"You can't be that good at pool."
"But I am." He stated, using as a matter of fact tone.
"Nah they just that bad." I teased, and he seemed to pick up on this because his lips spread apart to display his amusement.
"You wanna test this theory when we go home?"
"Alright." I answered, accepting his challenge, before shifting my attention to the rest of the statement, "So what business were you handling?"
"Some paperwork and a few meetings, nothing major."
"You should have treated yourself too today."
"I will when I find time." He guaranteed, though I wasn't sure if I believed him but I could only hope he followed through with his words because the tension in his body was very clear to my eyes by the way he had been carrying himself all month since we went for his mother, which told me his mind was still clouded by the events that occurred between him and his father and I couldn't say I blame him.
