(Keefe's POV)

I didn't even care that it was midnight. I marched over to Stina's house and pounded on the door.

After about two minutes of me knocking as hard as I could, an annoyed Vika came to the door with a scowl on her ugly face.

"What do you WANT? I need my beauty sleep!" Vika complained.

"I don't see any beauty." I said calmly.

Vika's eyes narrowed. "You have some nerve coming here after your stupid little girlfriend knocked out my daughter!"

"Yeah, well your daughter ruined Foster's life! I need to talk to her. Now." I replied.

"No. This is my house. You don't have my permission." Vika snarled.

"He has my permission." A familiar voice said from behind her. Stina.

"Honey, go back to sleep." Vika snapped.

"No! Mom, you never let me fight my own battles! Let him in." Stina insisted.

I wasn't too eager to be in her house, but I needed to talk to her, so I proudly marched into the house as Vika grumbled something about stupid teenagers.

"You made the splotcher hit Foster, didn't you?" I growled when I got to Stina's room.

"Yes." Stina said with her nose held high. Her face softened as she stared at the floor. "But I didn't mean for it to go that far."

I snorted. "You ruined her life! She wouldn't be here if you hadn't done that!"

"Oh, and I see she needs her puny boyfriend to stand up for her." She snarled. I almost blushed when she called me her boyfriend, but I covered it up with a smirk.

"No, she doesn't need me to stand up for her. She could probably pound you into the ground faster than I could. She even knocked you out with one inflicting! You're calling me puny?" I said smugly.

Stina's eyes narrowed. "She can't even handle one little inflicting session without breaking down. At least I recovered."

"Your mom didn't tell you?" I asked, genuinely curious.

"What didn't she tell me?"

"Sophie... She accidentally took my Empathy out of me when she inflicted on you by accident. It's hurting her. She might only have two weeks left to live." My voice cracked at the last few words.

Stina scoffed. "You're lying. You're trying to make me feel guilty."

I held out my wrist. She looked skeptical, but when she touched my hand, her eyes widened. "She's actually..."

I nodded grimly.

Stina sank to the floor. "I didn't mean to kill her. It was just a prank..."

I stared at Stina. She was a good person, even if she wasn't exactly good to Sophie or... Anyone else.

"Well, you might have to go through a Tribunal for that kind of offense." I said quietly. "But you're a good person, Stina. Believe me, that's the last thing I ever thought I'd say. But I know you'll do the right thing."

Then I left her house.

I told everyone to meet me at the Healing Center. After Foster broke the news, everyone pretty much had a crying spree. Believe me, I wanted to join, but Foster told me that there was some hope.

After everyone had left, basically nobody wanted to leave her side so that was kinda hard, Foster called me over to her cot.

"Keefe, to save both of us, during the procedure... I have to inflict on you." Foster said quietly. "With everything I have."
