A Week Later

Tension was running high between Zayn and Liam.

"Zayn!" Liam snapped, frustrated as Zayn missed the same dance move for the third time. "Can you get your head out of your ass and focus? We don't need you screwing this up on stage."

Ouch, Zayn thought, wincing internally at the harsh words.

"Shut up, Liam. You're not doing much better yourself," Asia cut in, her voice sharp. "Instead of barking orders, why don't you actually help him out?"

Zayn stayed silent, his jaw clenched, before muttering, "Bathroom," and walking off without another word.

Asia groaned, running a hand through her hair. "These two are going to be the death of me," she muttered under her breath as she watched Zayn disappear down the hall.

In the bathroom, Zayn stared at his reflection in the mirror. Sweat was dripping down his face, his usually styled hair limp, and his breathing heavy. He leaned forward, gripping the sink and splashing cold water on his face. I got this, he told himself, though he wasn't sure if he believed it.

Back in the rehearsal room, Liam's phone rang, breaking the tense silence. "Hello?" he answered, a little too eagerly.

"Liam," Simon's voice was almost a purr on the other end.

"Simon," Liam replied, sounding surprised. "Hey, how's it going?"

"Good, good. I was just wondering if you'd like to grab some ice cream tonight?"

Liam raised an eyebrow, taken aback. "Like... a date?"

"Well, if you insist," Simon teased.

"I can't," Liam sighed. "I have rehearsal." He glanced toward the door just as Zayn stormed out of the bathroom and headed straight for the exit. "Zayn, wait!" Asia called after him, sending Liam a glare that could cut glass. Liam shivered under her stare.

"Well," he said, his focus returning to the phone call. "Looks like rehearsal's over, so... I guess I'm free."

Asia, meanwhile, ran after Zayn, who didn't even slow down as he made his way out of the building. "Zayn, wait! Please," she called, trying to catch up.

Zayn barely broke his stride, arriving breathless at his favorite ice cream shop a few blocks away. Without hesitation, he walked straight to the counter. "Four scoops of cookies and cream, please," he said, still catching his breath.

Moments later, Asia appeared by his side, out of breath. "Make that two orders of cookies and cream," she told the guy behind the counter, who nodded and began scooping.

"Thanks," Zayn muttered as the ice cream was handed to him.

Meanwhile, Liam was trying to keep his distance as Simon insisted on walking too close. "So, where exactly are we going?" Liam asked."To get ice cream," Simon replied cheerily."I said that already," Liam muttered."Yes, but which ice cream shop?" Simon grinned, leaning in like he was about to make a move, but Liam yanked his hand away before Simon could take it."We're not dating," Liam stated firmly."Not yet," Simon said with a wink."Not ever," Liam shot back.

At the ice cream shop, Asia glanced over at Zayn, who was quietly eating his ice cream. "Do you want to talk about it?" she asked softly.

Zayn shook his head. "I'd rather not," he muttered, staring down at his ice cream like it held all the answers.

Asia nodded, understanding, and stayed silent. Zayn stewed in his thoughts until, out of the corner of his eye, he spotted Liam entering the shop—with Simon in tow. His grip tightened around his spoon.
