"If the Red and Black Ranger's were greedy, why didn't you catch them?" Heckyl questioned.
"Because that nuisance of a Gold Ranger showed up and spoiled everything." Fury explained.
"Should have been faster. I knew I'd end up meeting you back here." Jodi mocked.
"Shut up." Fury growled.
"I may have a solution." Wrench said. He made his way over to the group with the pendent in hand. Jodi noticed him working on it. She just wasn't sure what it was that he was doing. "I've turned Spell Diggers pendent into a magic portal. It'll suck those greedy Ranger's right in. And they'll never escape."
"And neither will their energems."
"If you mess this up, you won't be escaping either. From me." Heckyl threatened.
"How frightening." Jodi yawned. "Do I have to go with him this time?"
"Yes. I have another plan that'll involve these coins again. And I'll need you as the decoy. Poisandra is waiting for you."
Jodi glared at him. "These disguises are getting out of hand. Do I really have to keep wearing these?"
"Yes. The Ranger's can't find out about you just yet. We need to hold on that for a little longer."
"Okay." Jodi groaned. "I hate this."
"This is what you signed up for."
"I know."
~
Thankfully all she needed was a new wig. Little by little, Jodi reached into the bag and dropped a few coins, leaving a trail of them behind her. After a while, Spell Digger arrived.
"That was fast." She said.
"I just left the rest in a pile." He said.
Jodi rolled her eyes. "You better hope that Tyler and Chase go that way. A pile that big will distract them. Hopefully."
"It's still a long trail. They won't be here for a little while longer. Maybe they've all touched the coins and became greedy. That'll make this job easier for me."
"No it won't."
Without having to turn back, Jodi recognized that as Shelby's voice. She put on her mask and turned around. It was only her and Riley. Meaning that the others followed the other trail.
With the mask, and the bangs covering her eyes, Shelby still didn't recognize her. "Still trying to figure out who I am?"
"We'll figure it out." Riley said angrily.
"Aww, how cute." Jodi gushed. "Let's just get this over with." The mark on her neck began to glow. And slowly, Spite was back.
"Not if we have anything to say about it."
The two quickly morphed and ran into battle. Shelby was quick to go after Spite. But Spite was strong. Shelby couldn't get a hit on her. "Your emotions are in the way. That's why you can't get a single hit on me."
"As if." Shelby pushed Spite away. Instead of aiming her blast at Spite, She aimed it at the shipping container they were standing next to. It caused a loud boom.
Spite fell to her knees covering her ears. She felt herself being pulled in again. But she stayed strong for Jodi.
Shelby used the chance to attack with her Tricera Drill, causing Spite to fly back. Spite landed on the floor in pain. Her ears still hurting from the loud boom.
"Let's get out of here." Spell Digger grabbed Spite's arm and began running into the woods. Shelby and Riley followed not far behind.
Once far enough away from the city, the two stopped running. "Give me your best shot. And then I'll steal it."
Riley and Shelby both shot their blaster at them, but using the pendent, Spell Digger shot back at them.
The two ranger's were confused. Their weapons didn't work on him. Thankfully the other four showed up not long after.
"We're here guys." Chase called out.
"Oh boy, are we glad to see you."
"We need to get out of here." Jodi said. "Go while they're distracted with him."
"On it."
And without being noticed, Spite was able to slip away without any of the Ranger's following her. Leaving Spell Digger all alone.
~
Once far enough away, Spite and Jodi quickly switched back. Jodi fell to her knees, Hands covering her ears from the pain. "Shelby's too smart for our own good."
She groaned from the pain. Thankfully it wasn't bleeding again. "She's definitely getting closer to us."
"We need to get you back to the ship. You may be far, but they could still catch up." Spite said.
"Fine." Jodi groaned. She stood up slowly, but she then fell back to the floor in pain. Her legs felt like jelly. She felt weak.
It wasn't even that loud of a sound. But it weakened her. She wasn't as strong as she used to be. With how weak she was getting, Spite probably wouldn't last long outside.
~
Jodi hated playing this nice character. Because it meant she had to be a whole different person at all times. Which meant Chase was constantly bothering her for favors, and she didn't know how a nice person would say no.
Chase asked her to stop by. Despite still feeling weak and tired from what happened, she still went. Poisandra did her best to hide the bags under Jodi's eyes with the makeup she had. And it worked, Jodi didn't look as tired as she did just ten minutes ago. How she felt was a different story.
"I've never felt this tired before." She was frustrated. She was already tired enough. Now she had to go in there and pretend like nothing was wrong with her.
She walked into the cafe. But the scene in front of her left her confused. And completely woke her up. There was a lady chasing Ivan around. "Someone stop this woman!" He shouted.
Chase noticed Jodi standing at the entrance looking very confused. He stood up from the table and ran over to her. "Hey, you're here."
"Uh, yeah. What's going on?"
"Too much to explain. Ignore them. Come take a seat." He grabbed her shoulders and pushed her over to the table, having her sit next to Tyler.
"Hi." Tyler smiled awkwardly.
"Hi." She smiled back. Her heart was racing again. Talking to him, being near him, and even just thinking about him gave her butterflies. It was so frustrating.
Tyler looked down at her bag. "I keep forgetting to get you a new keychain."
Jodi shook her head. "It's okay. I don't need a new one."
"Well too bad. I'm going to find you one." He said.
"Okay." Jodi smiled. "Is everything okay here?" She asked.
"Yeah, ignore it." Shelby said.
"Someone help!" Ivan shouted as he ran into the kitchen.
"Or at least try to." Shelby joked.
They all laughed.
There must have been something on the floor, because not even a second later Ivan slipped and he ran into a pile of metal trays and fell to the floor. "Ah!" He shouted.
The sound of the metal trays hitting the floor made a loud sound all across the room. Which of course caused Jodi to flinch. Her hands flew up to her ears. Tyler was quick to use his hands to help. Thankfully it wasn't loud enough to cause her to go into a panic, or loud enough to hurt her.
Her reaction didn't go unnoticed. Shelby watched as Tyler kept asking if she was alright. Jodi assured him that she was okay.
Her suspicions just kept growing. She didn't want to feel this way. But she couldn't help it. Maybe Jodi was Spite. Oh how she wished to be wrong.
Hope you enjoyed!
See you soon :)
