Taking any sort of breath brought her pain. Jodi could barely feel her legs. And no doubt was her arm broken too. She wondered if her parents were out looking for her. Or maybe they went back inside and went to bed. They didn't seem to care that much when Andrew left. Angry, yes. But they didn't care. Maybe it was the same for her.
There were tons of other monsters in the cells around her. It didn't scare her at all. It just left her confused. One of them began banging on the cell doors, causing a loud sound to go throughout the halls. Jodi flinched at the sound, the ringing in her ears coming back.
The ringing went away after a bit. And she could hear footsteps coming closer. "Are you sure about this, master?" Wrench asked.
"No. But it's not a bad idea." Sledge said. They stopped right outside her cell. She slowly lifted her head, her body still in pain. "Who are you, girl?"
"Does that matter?" She glared.
"Can you stand?" Sledge asked.
"I can't even move."
"She has quite a mouth. We should throw her out." Fury said.
"Don't be like that. If we heal all those bruises and scratches from her face, she can be quite cute. We can use her good looks to get closer to the Ranger's." Poisandra said.
"Shut up. All of you." Slegde growled. He leaned down to her level. He could see she was struggling to breath. "You don't seem scared. Why is that?"
"If you're going to kill me, just do it. I don't want to be here any longer."
Sledge pulled out a gem. It was glowing. Jodi wasn't sure why, but something about the gem was pulling her towards it. "Do you know what this is?" He asked.
Jodi didn't answer. She just kept staring at the gem. And it was hard to talk with how much pain she was in. So she shook her head.
"This is an energem. Not just any energem, this is the dark energem. It was formed from pure darkness. For someone like you, simply touching this will take away all the good in you." Sledge explained.
"And what about it?"
"I'm going to give this to you. It'll heal your wounds, but you'll never be the same person you were today." Sledge answered.
"Why give it to me?" Jodi asked.
"There are ten more energems here on earth. Except this time, they were formed from pure good. And I need your help finding them."
"What for?" Jodi asked.
"I'll tell you that later. From what we know, there are two energem's out there that have been bonded to someone already. And just like us, they are also after these energem's. I need you to get close to them and find out where the other eight are."
"And what's in it for me?"
"Whatever you'd like. And you get to live for a little while longer."
Considering he wanted to giverher the dark energem, it was quite obvious he wasn't any good if her wanted her to be bad. Jodi's parents invaded her mind. The scene of Andrew leaving replayed in her head. What did she want? For them to suffer. For them to feel pain. For them to disappear.
"If I'm going to do this, I want this place gone." She said.
"And by that you mean...?"
"Earth." She answered. "Could you do that?"
Sledge couldn't help but to laugh. "Doesn't seem like you need this energem at all if that's what you want. But I'll still give it to you for extra power."
He held out his hand, the energem sitting on the center of his palm. Jodi stared at it. Touching it meant all the good in her would be gone. But not like there was any left. She felt safer with these monsters than she did with her parents. And that said a lot.
Jodi slowly reached for the gem, grasping it in her hands as it started to glow from her touch. She was afraid at first. But that quickly went away when she started feeling a change. A change like no other.
The thought of earth disappearing crossed her mind again. The pain caused by her parents and Andrew came back into her head. And Jodi gripped onto the energem with her life. Something about her felt off. She felt strong and she felt powerful.
Ten seconds ago, she couldn't even move her leg. But now, she felt like she could jump up into space. She looked down at her left hand. There was a watch on her wrist. She wasn't wearing this before. She looked at the time. It was three in the morning. Seemed about right.
Slowly, the time began to disappear. And instead, a figure of a monster appeared. She wasn't sure of who though. "What is that?" Jodi questioned.
"Great. Another Snide." Fury shook his head.
Sledge took the energem out of her hand and back into the case. Jodi looked down at her hand. For some reason, holding that energem left a burn mark on the center of her palm. What used to feel so soft now felt rough. But it wasn't like it hurt or anything. It was just weird.
"Let her out now. We need to clean her up."" Poisandra whined. "Oh I can't wait to dress you up in something cute. I'm going to find you so many cute dresses and skirts."
Fear washed over Jodi. "What?"
~
Jodi wasn't sure why she was suddenly thinking about that day. Perhaps it was her crave for the dark energem again. If only Sledge was still here. Maybe he would have gotten it back for her if she needed it.
She ignored her thoughts and went back to the pictures she was looking at. It was a mess. Piles and piles of photos she probably didn't even need anymore. She picked up one of the photos. It wasn't even one she took. It was a picture of Curio. She picked up another. This time a picture of Poisandra. She picked up more. There were a bunch of photo's of the two of them. Even some of a few monsters that were in the cells. One even of Heckyl. He seemed annoyed in the photo.
Jodi rolled her eyes. Annoyed that the two used her camera without even asking. She didn't even realized that she had printed these out.
"What a mess."
Jodi turned around to the sound of Heckyl's voice. She passed him the photo of himself. "Not my doing."
"Oh my, that's not a flattering angle."
"No kidding." She remarked.
"Funny." Heckyl glared. "Do you plan to keep all of these?"
Jodi scoffed. "As if. I'll have to go through all of these. It's gonna take me a while. Who know's how many of these kinds of photo's I have. I need to get rid of them."
"I suggest you save that for later." Heckyl said.
Jodi rolled her eyes. "I thought you needed something. You wouldn't come over to check on me if you didn't."
"Smart, aren't we?" He smiled.
"What is it?" Jodi asked.
Heckyl waved his hand to follow him to another room. Jodi rolled her eyes and followed right behind. In the next room over, Poisandra had a table ready with a few wigs. And not only that, Wrench laid on the floor.
"What happened here?"
"Half-Bake did this to me. I've short-circuited." Wrench answered.
"And why do I have to be here?"
"I need you to go out and find him. I am in no mood to deal with anything unless I fill my stomach. So bring him back for me."
Jodi couldn't help but to judge. "And here I thought I was the one that was always hungry."
"I'm pretty sure you still take that title."
"Come on, Jodi. It's makeover time." Poisandra sang.
"This is gonna suck."
Hope you enjoyed!
See you soon :)
