The crew eventually arrives at a beautiful island planet, the sight of lush beaches and vibrant fauna a stark contrast to the icy wasteland and desert planets they've been to before. As they approach for landing, the colors of the landscape spill through the cockpit windows, igniting a flicker of wonder in the hearts of the crew. However, for Jamie, the allure of paradise feels distant.

Alex knocks gently on Jamie's door, the sound echoing in the otherwise quiet ship. Jamie's heart sinks at the interruption. He doesn't want to engage, not now-not when the weight of his emotions feels so heavy. But after a moment of hesitation, Alex opens the door and steps inside.

At first glance, it's clear something has changed in Jamie. The light that once danced in his eyes has dimmed; he's no longer the carefree, charismatic person they all knew. He sits upright on his bunk, the shadows under his eyes revealing restless nights.

"How are you doing?" Alex asks, taking a seat across from him. Jamie doesn't respond, instead hiding his damaged hand beneath the blanket, as if shielding it from scrutiny and from the truth.

After a tense silence, Jamie speaks slowly, choosing his words carefully. "If there was anyone on the ship I would talk to, it'd be you... or maybe Angelia."

Alex nods, giving him the space he needs. He simply listens, not rushing to fill the silence with words. Jamie appreciates the maturity in Alex's quiet support, allowing him to gather his thoughts without pressure.

Finally, Jamie asks, "Is Angelia okay?"

"She's okay," Alex replies, a smile breaking through his concern. "She's very happy. You saved her, you know."

Jamie feels a flicker of gratitude at that acknowledgment. "I'm glad."

Alex shifts slightly, glancing toward the door. "We're going to leave soon, but take your time. I don't think we'll be going anywhere else for a while. Just need some rest."

"Thanks for coming in," Jamie says, his voice a touch softer.

"Anytime," Alex replies, getting up to leave. As he exits, Jamie turns over in his bed, the weight of his thoughts pressing down on him. He stares at the wall, feeling the unfamiliar scars of his injuries-both physical and emotional.

The vibrant world outside beckons, but the turmoil within him feels insurmountable. He allows himself to sink into the stillness, hoping that with time, he might find a way to reconcile his pain and rediscover the joy that once came so easily.
