Overwhelmed and at a loss for words, Anamika drowned herself in his words. They seemed to drench her... consume her completely.
It was weird how she was smiling and crying tears of joy simultaneously. It was proving difficult for her to fathom the depth and intensity of his love for her.
Despite her blurry vision she continued staring lovingly at the paper in her hands. A few teardrops dribbled down her cheeks and fell, staining the yellow sheet.
Anamika felt his profound love seeping deep into her pores with each word, inundating her to the point where all she could see or feel was him and him alone.
His love was like the sun sifting through the leaves of a giant tree, weaving a mesmerizing world for her in which they basked together in the warmth of each other's deep affection.
He illuminated her very existence with an incandescent glow of his love. Despite the cold, her cheeks felt warm against her palm. And she was sure they were blazing red at the moment too.
Anamika had never pegged him to be an old-school romantic. And God! Did she love it when proved wrong? Hell yeah!!
The girl lost count of how many times she reread that single paper. And each time a different, toe-curling feeling arose violently in her bosom.
Anamika felt as though he was holding and caressing her in his arms. His touch... sometimes tender, sometimes caring, sometimes sensual, and sometimes loving.
High on the euphoria she wanted nothing but him to appear before her, kiss her passionately, and leave her panting and begging for more with his fervent touches.
The urge was so overwhelmingly strong that she feared the intensity of her emotions would leave her in a mad frenzy.
Oh! how she wished things to be simpler for them.
In the far future, she imagined a scenario where she wouldn't have to hide her true feelings from the eyes of the world. A future where whenever she'd reach out for him, he'd come and clasp her hand in his the next minute.
Holding the letter against her chest Anamika flitted away her tears and took some moments to calm her racing heart.
Reaching for her phone, she dialed him. Eklavya picked up at the second ring. With bated breaths both of them waited for the other to speak first.
Anamika spoke when he refused to break the silence, "Couldn't you give it to me yourself?"
"It somehow reached your hands anyways," he muttered, his ears tinging red as he awkwardly scratched his nape. Feeling embarrassed beyond measure.
Hearing his unsaid diffidence Anamika simply smiled to herself and breathed out, "I've... I've never... felt such a strong surge of emotions before. You may not realize it but each day I find myself loving you a little bit more."
Eklavya sucked in a sharp breath at her confession. He could feel his heart thudding erratically against his chest as he waited in anticipation for her to continue,
"However today... after reading this letter," Anamika gulped down her cries with great efforts, "I know I shouldn't be saying things like that over the phone but I – I can't help my feelings right now." Unable to hold back her tears she broke into soft cries.
She heard him calling out her name lovingly and whispering sweet nothings to make her stop crying. Eklavya felt helpless as he listened to her choked sobs. His heart panged painfully when she wouldn't listen to him.
"I – I love you..." her breathless confession amidst her sobs and Eklavya stilled. As he sat rooted in his place.
"I love you more than I've ever loved anyone. I love you more than I'll ever love anyone in this life." She professed her undying love for him once again.
