I didn't think i'd have to put this in here this late after this was completed but this story is heavily influenced by mental health problems/struggles.
Steve in this story is not the bright and goofy Harrington we all know and love from Stranger Things.
Here he is an insecure, damaged, self loathing ball of emotions and instability because here he's gay and had a terrible childhood with parents who didn't care about him.
It is also very common knowledge then and now that being gay in any sense in the 80's and 90's was considered a death sentence so it's also depicted here how these two beautiful men will struggle and deal with all of that as they accept themselves for who they really are.
I hope this will stop all of the comments of people becoming frusterated by Steve's consistent behavior of spiraling, trying to be someone he isn't, and worrying about Eddies thoughts and emotions toward him.
