Jiro's already damaged reputation suffers further detriment when Ave Mujica's intervention inadvertently alienates some band members.

Class 3-A
Jiro POV

While I'd prefer to characterize it as a typical school day, word of my breakup with Rinko has unfortunately spread amongst the student body.  Speculation centers on my student council responsibilities or Roselia's activities, but those involved in the music scene understand the true circumstances. I am currently maintaining composure to the best of my ability.

Teacher: Chisaka-san, could you write the answer on the chalkboard?

Jiro: Of course.

While approaching the front of the classroom, I was acutely aware of the students' attention. Consequently, I expedited the process of writing the solution to the equation.

Teacher: That's correct! Someone has been practicing.

Jiro: Uh huh...

That's all I could manage to say as I walked back to my desk. I glanced at Rinko, but she turned away, seemingly ignoring me. After I sat down, the bell rang, signaling the end of the day. As I packed my bag at my desk, Sayo approached.

Sayo: Do you have a minute, Jiro-san?

Jiro: Sure.

Sayo: Follow me, please...

Upon dismissal from class, we proceeded to an unoccupied science laboratory. Following the closure of the sliding door, Sayo assumed a posture indicating her intention to inquire further.

Sayo: How are you feeling?

Jiro: Ashamed...

Sayo: Jiro...

Jiro: Sayo, I get it... if you want me to stay away from Roselia, I will, and I'll transfer out Hanasakigawa if I'm not wanted here.

Sayo: That's not what- okay what between you and Shirokane-san?

Jiro: There's these two girls... one of them I started to look out for, and the other is just a friend...

Sayo: Who is this girl you've been doting on?

Jiro: Her name is Tomori Takamatsu. She's a first-year at Haneoka. You can say that she's not exactly having the easiest time fitting in at school.

Sayo: Go on...

Jiro: The other students call her Haneoka's Weirdo Girl. She possesses a peculiar personality, so to say. Therefore, she really struggles to make any friends. When I look at her, she kinda reminds me of myself... and you know... other students... t-they can be so cruel. I had to help her.

Sayo: I know... you were once just like her...

Jiro: I thought if I could help her, I could finally feel good about myself...

Sayo: Yet here you are, with the nice and selfless and carefree persona you've been putting on since you moved back here...

Jiro: Sometimes it's better to keep certain emotions under wraps.

Sayo: Research states that boys are likely to be more manipulative than girls.

Jiro: You don't have to trust me just because we go way back... I think you should side with Roselia and just hate me as well.

Sayo: Jiro-san...

Jiro: I have to go. Please excuse me.

Upon Jiro's departure from the vacant laboratory, Sayo remained, bathed in the golden light of the setting sun. A clear internal conflict was evident. While rightfully angered by Rinko's heartbreak, she simultaneously grappled with the return of her childhood friend's depression—a state she had fervently hoped to never witness again.
