“So, what would our band name be?” Joshua, Charlotte, Solom, Alex and I are sitting in the tour bus. “Seriously guys?” I roll my eyes. “Don’t think that’s catchy enough.” Alex grins. “Shut up, but for real now: Are we really going to be a band?” “Only if you want to.” Josh looks at me. “Of course I want to.” “But?” “But I don’t know, never mind. I think it’s good to pick a name already, to break that routine of every band waiting until they have a few songs ready before picking a name.” “Break That Routine!” Joshua grins. “What?” “Break-That-Routine, that’s an amazing name.” Alex nods. “Oh, yeah, right, I said that on purpose you know.” I try to keep my pokerface. “Of course you did.” Charlotte grins.

A while later someone taps on the door. It’s Matt Flyzik. “Hey dude.” Alex looks up. “The tour dudes asked if they want to perform somewhere today.” He points at us. “Flyzik, you realise we’re here to answer for ourselves?” I laugh. “Oh, guys do you want to perform today?” “Sure, what song?” Josh seems exited already. “Songs.” Matt grabs a small piece of paper out of his pocket. “They asked if you wanted to do Some Scars Never Fade Away, Back Against The Wall by Cage The Elephant and Kiss Me Again feat Alex Gaskarth of… oh well you know.”

Alex’ P.O.V.

“Do I want to sing with them? I mean, they’re not even famous.” Valerie glares at me. “Dammit Alex, you’re such a white girl. Please, don’t show up with Starbucks like fifteen minutes late because I’m totes not into that shit girl.” She chews her invisible gum. “Oh god, Becky do you know what Valerie just said?” I pretend to be on the phone while checking out my nails, god I’m so awesome, woah, get out white girl thoughts.

“But sure, I’ll sing with them, they might get known that way.” Valerie jumps on me, her legs around my waist. “Thank you cupcake.” She grins before kissing me. “PDA.” Josh whispers. “Love.” I correct him while patting him on the head with one hand, the other used to keep Valerie’s body close to mine. “Love you too.” She grins.

“Bitches, get ready to perform!” Matt is running around like the idiot he is, trying to gather my girlfriends band. “Where are they?” He stops walking and stares at me. “On stage.” Matt frowns and runs towards the door. “Oh.” “They had to be on fifteen minutes ago.” “Fifteen, so they were on time?” “They’re already performing you dipshit.” I laugh at his offended face. “Now let me watch my girl.” I walk through the door and hear Val sing the last words of Some Scars Never Fade Away.

“Holy fuck, thank you guys! Thank you so much!” She just looks like an angel on stage with the lights pointed at her and the crowd she has is huge, those tweets I sent out definitely helped. “Now we’re going to cover a song by Cage The Elephant, it’s called Back Against The Wall and after that we’re going to do Kiss Me Again by WATIC and with this awesome guy who claims to be my boyfriend…” I grin. “But first, Back Against The Wall!”

“Tonight I'll have a look

And try to find my face again

Buried beneath this house

My spirit screams and dies again

Out back a monster wears a cloak of Persian leather

Behind the TV screen

I've fallen to my knees

I said you got me where you want me again

And I can't turn away

I'm hanging by thread and I'm feelin' like a fool

I'm stuck here in-between

The shadows of my yesterday
