TW; Vomitting

You woke up alone that next morning, and a feeling of dread took over your stomach as your eyes were met with the bright sunlight. There was no true way to tell the time by just looking at the sun anymore, for all you knew you could have slept in till noon. It didn't really matter, though. A singular glance at the door was enough to remind you of the way Ellie had left the night before.

The fact that she hadn't returned somehow stung, despite everything that happened in the weeks leading up to it. Thoughts of where she could be spooked through your mind, but were interrupted by a sudden urge to throw all of your stomach's content up right then and there. You hurried over to the bathroom, and made it just in time before puking everything out.

You wretched out of disgust, trying to pull your hair together to avoid making even more of a mess, while simultaniously attempting to let it all out. It wasn't unusual for you to get sick once winter started arriving, but throwing up was a little out of character. But as soon as the thought of Dina and Ellie kissing crossed your mind, you were once again vomitting into the toilet.

All of the food you had managed to digest in the past few days seemed to be coming out of you in an uncomfortable pace, and the fact that no one was there to hold your hair or rub circles on your back somehow made it even more unbearable. It made you feel oddly dependent, and you didn't like that at all.

After several minutes of gagging and retching, you finally managed to get back on your feet and brush your teeth. The thought of food still made you want to puke, and you were definitely nowhere near okay, but you were coping. You felt lightheaded, a common feeling for you. The first thought that came to mind was to go get yourself a cup of water, so you did.

Your stomach was aching in ways it hadn't before, and your thoughts immediately raced to the fact that you were going to have to call in sick for patrol because of it. The idea of cancelling your shift didn't even seem that bad to you. In fact, you needed the break. The possibility of Ellie or even DIna thinking they had left such a big impact on you was what made you want to push through nonetheless.

But you weren't like Tommy. Or Ellie, even. No, you knew what your body could and couldn't take. Working simply wasn't in the cards for you today, and you were going to have to face the consequences yourself. Being locked up in a house you used to share with Ellie didn't feel like the proper way to rest, so you dragged yourself through town.

The shivering that had started after about fifteen minutes of throwing up was worsening, and the lighheadedness wasn't going down in the way it normally would after a while. People's eyes landed on you, but you didn't mind them as the familiar sight of Tommy and Maria's house took over your thoughts. When you finally knocked on the front door, a somewhat warm feeling rushed over you.
