Percy's POV:

It was set up to be a great day. Blue sky, Blue water, Blue food. Annabeth by my side, and more Blue food.

We had gotten to the beach an hour earlier than the rest of our group, and were enjoying the quiet we knew wasn't going to last long. I was laying on our beach blanket, watching the waves as my Wisegirl laid her head on my chest. She was going over some sort of chart, and despite it looking like work to me, she looked as if she was enjoying herself.

Piper and Jason should be here soon, along with Reyna and Thalia. Leo and Calypso we're supposed to have come, but Calypso had to cancel last minute because Leo set something on fire. Calypso hasn't specified, but I have a feeling it was going to take a while to clean up.

I watched the tide slowly pull the water away, and part of me wanted to race down the sand and jump in it. Go walk out as far as I wanted, talk with the fish and swim with the whales. A single look at Annabeth, her head still on my chest, made me think otherwise.

Piper's POV:

"I can take that Pipes."

I rolled my eyes. It was the 8th time he had offered to take the surfboard out of my arms in the past 10 minutes. Yes, I had gotten kind of lost figuring out where the beach was, but that was no excuse that I couldn't carry a plastic board in my arms.

I whipped around, ready to tell him I was capable of carrying plastic, but when I turned he wasn't there.

"Ok ok you get to carry it."

I looked down at the ground to see I had smacked him with the end of the surfboard. I wanted to check if he was okay, but at the same point in time he looked ridiculous sprawled out on the sand path.

I began to die laughing.

He rubbed his head and stood back up. Then he began to laugh too.

"I kind of deserved that didn't I? Oh well. I hope Percy and Annabeth brought extra food. Ours is now covered in sand."

I laughed harder as he picked up a cucumber sandwich that was now a cucumber and sand sandwich. As he held it in the air inspecting it, we both heard a screech, and a seagull came and plucked the whole thing out of his hands. More came and devoured whatever was left of the ones on the ground.

"Ok what is happening?" He asked, looking up at the sky as if it held all the answers.

I continued to laugh. Jason could be so Jason sometimes. I had to admit, that was why I loved him.

We finally made it to the beach, we're Percy and Annabeth were already set up. When we saw them from the top of the path, part of me wanted to turn around and go back to the car just to leave them alone.

Percy was sitting on a blue and white checkered picnic blanket, and Annabeth was resting her head on his chest. Percy, who usually was so water obsessed, wasn't even looking at it. He was just smiling down at her as if she was the prettiest thing in the world. Annabeth wasn't holding any project, or anything. She was just next to him contently. Occasionally he'd bring his hand up and run it through her curls.

Jason, oblivious to all of this, sprinted down towards them screaming 'Hey guys guess what, the seagulls here are evil! And Piper's surfboard bites!!'

I rolled my eyes but smiled, and followed my idiot.

We just got settled on the picnic blanket and promised that Percy had brought more than enough blue food, when Annabeth's phone rang.

It was so strange to see her with a phone, even though she had explained a dozen times in her Annabeth-smart-language, that somehow she had taken out a chip and made it monster proof. I still didn't understand, and I didn't think anyone else did either, which was fine with us. None of us really needed cell phones.
