The aftermath of Lucian's death left an eerie quiet in the old mansion. Sienna, Jenna, and Freya stood in the ballroom, surrounded by the remnants of the ritual - a circle of burnt-out candles, smeared symbols on the floor, and the still body of Lucian. The air was heavy, filled with the lingering energy of dark magic.
Jenna's heart was still racing, her hand clutching Sienna's tightly. They had survived, but the battle had taken its toll. She could feel the exhaustion in every muscle, the adrenaline fading and leaving behind a deep ache. But the weight pressing down on her now wasn't physical - it was the gravity of what they'd done.
Freya stepped forward, her eyes sweeping over the scene. She knelt beside Lucian's body, her expression grim. "It's over... for now."
Sienna's gaze remained fixed on Lucian. His twisted ambition had brought them to the brink of destruction, and even in death, his presence still cast a long shadow. "He was playing with forces he couldn't control. I warned him."
Freya sighed, wiping her hands on her pants as she rose to her feet. "Lucian was always arrogant, convinced he could outsmart everyone. But he's not the only one out there chasing power. Others will come."
Jenna shuddered at the thought. She had never signed up for this - being caught in the web of supernatural politics and dangerous rituals. Yet here she was, standing beside Sienna, a Mikaelson, in the aftermath of a battle she could barely comprehend.
"What now?" Jenna's voice was quiet, unsure.
Sienna turned to her, her expression softening. She could sense the weight of it all on Jenna's shoulders, the way her mortal life had been pulled into something far bigger. "We clean this up. Make sure no one else can use what Lucian started."
Freya nodded. "I'll dispose of the body and the ritual remnants. We can't risk anyone else coming across this kind of power."
Jenna glanced between them, her mind swirling with questions. "And after that?"
Sienna stepped closer to Jenna, gently cupping her face. "After that, we go home."
Home. The word sounded almost foreign after everything that had happened. Jenna wasn't sure if they would ever find normal again. But with Sienna by her side, maybe they could carve out something close enough.
Freya began her work, muttering incantations under her breath as she gathered the scattered candles and cleansed the markings on the floor. Sienna remained by Jenna's side, her presence a steady anchor amidst the chaos.
Jenna looked up at her, a question tugging at her mind. "Do you ever wonder if it's worth it?"
Sienna's brow furrowed slightly. "What do you mean?"
"All of this. The power, the constant fighting, the enemies... Do you ever think about walking away from it?"
Sienna's eyes softened as she considered Jenna's words. "I've thought about it. A thousand times. But it's not that simple. Being a Mikaelson means always looking over your shoulder, always protecting the people you care about. Walking away isn't an option, not for me."
Jenna swallowed, the reality of it sinking in. She had fallen in love with someone who belonged to a world filled with danger and darkness, a world she could never fully understand. But she also knew she couldn't turn away from Sienna, no matter how difficult the path ahead might be.
"I don't care what world you come from," Jenna said softly. "As long as we face it together."
Sienna smiled, a rare, genuine expression that warmed Jenna's heart. "We will. I promise."
Freya finished her spell, the air in the room clearing as the last remnants of Lucian's magic dissolved. She wiped the sweat from her brow and glanced at Sienna and Jenna. "It's done. No one will be able to follow in Lucian's footsteps. At least, not here."
Sienna nodded in gratitude. "Thank you, Freya."
Freya shrugged, though her eyes were filled with a quiet exhaustion. "Just doing my part. But we need to keep our guard up. Lucian's death will send ripples through the supernatural world. Others will want to know what happened, and some might see it as an opportunity to strike."
Sienna's jaw tightened. She had no illusions about the challenges ahead. They had bought themselves some time, but it was only a matter of time before someone else came knocking. "We'll be ready."
Jenna shifted, a new tension creeping into her thoughts. "What about Klaus? He's not going to be happy when he finds out what happened."
Freya's expression darkened. "No, he won't. But he'll understand. Lucian was a threat to all of us. Klaus may not like it, but he knows we did what had to be done."
Sienna sighed, running a hand through her hair. The last thing she wanted was a confrontation with her brother, but Jenna was right. Klaus's temper was legendary, and he wouldn't take kindly to losing control over a situation like this. She would have to deal with him soon, but not tonight.
"Let's head back," Sienna said, her voice weary. "We'll deal with Klaus when the time comes."
Freya nodded, and the three of them left the mansion, the weight of what had happened hanging over them like a shadow.
As they drove back to Mystic Falls, Jenna leaned her head against the window, watching the trees blur past. Her thoughts were a jumble of relief and fear, of love and uncertainty. Sienna's world was dangerous, unpredictable, and full of darkness, but Jenna couldn't imagine being anywhere else.
She glanced at Sienna, who was staring straight ahead, her expression distant. There was so much Jenna still didn't know about her, so many secrets and burdens Sienna carried. But she was willing to stay, to face whatever came next.
Because no matter what, they had each other.
And for now, that was enough.
