The crackling fire was the only sound that broke the silence inside the small cabin. Sienna and Jenna sat on opposite ends of the sofa, both lost in their thoughts, the weight of Klaus's visit hanging heavily between them. Jenna stared into the flames, her mind racing with everything that had happened. The reality of the situation was settling in, and it was terrifying.

Sienna, on the other hand, was quiet, her expression hard as she mulled over Klaus's offer. Every instinct in her body screamed to reject it, to refuse to be pulled back into her brother's chaotic world. But she couldn't deny that he was right about one thing—Lucian's followers wouldn't stop coming. And they wouldn't just be targeting her; Jenna was at risk too.

Sienna leaned back, running a hand through her hair, the tension in her shoulders refusing to ease. She could feel Jenna's eyes on her, waiting for answers she wasn't sure she had. She had always been the one with the plan, the one who could protect and take control of a situation. But now? Now, she was torn.

"I know what you're thinking," Jenna said softly, breaking the silence.

Sienna looked up at her, raising an eyebrow. "Do you?"

Jenna nodded, though there was a nervousness to her expression. "You're thinking about his offer. About going back."

Sienna hesitated, then sighed. "It's more complicated than that."

Jenna frowned. "I don't see how it could be. He's dangerous, Sienna. I've seen enough to know that being anywhere near Klaus is a bad idea."

Sienna's jaw tightened. Jenna was right. She knew Klaus was dangerous, unpredictable, and ruthless. But he was also her brother, and no matter how much she wanted to deny it, there was still a bond there—one that was hard to break.

"I don't trust him," Sienna admitted. "But... he's right about one thing. I can't protect you alone, Jenna. Not forever."

Jenna shook her head, frustration flaring in her eyes. "So what, we just run back to him? Let him control us? I'm not going to be a pawn in your family's war, Sienna. I refuse."

Sienna's heart clenched at Jenna's words, the last thing she wanted was to drag her deeper into this mess. But as much as she hated to admit it, Jenna was already involved. There was no undoing that now.

"I don't want that either," Sienna said softly, her voice laced with guilt. "I never wanted you to be part of this. But Lucian's followers won't stop. If I don't do something, they'll come after you again. And next time, I might not be able to save you."

Jenna's expression softened, the anger in her eyes replaced with worry. "So, what's the plan? Are we really going to work with Klaus?"

Sienna didn't answer right away. Instead, she stood up and moved toward the window, staring out into the darkness of the forest. The thought of working with Klaus again filled her with dread. But at the same time, she couldn't shake the feeling that refusing his offer would lead them down an even darker path.

"We'll give it time," Sienna finally said, her voice low. "For now, we stay here, we prepare. If Klaus shows up again, we'll deal with it then."

Jenna nodded, though she didn't seem entirely convinced. "And Lucian's followers?"

"They'll come," Sienna said grimly. "But we'll be ready."

The tension in the room lingered as Sienna turned away from the window and sat back down next to Jenna. For a moment, neither of them spoke, the weight of what lay ahead settling between them like a heavy fog.

Jenna's voice broke the silence again, softer this time. "Sienna... what if there's another way? What if we don't have to choose between Klaus and running?"

Sienna looked at her, curiosity flickering in her eyes. "What do you mean?"

"I mean... there has to be someone else out there who can help us," Jenna continued. "Someone who isn't Klaus, but who's strong enough to fight back against Lucian's followers. You have connections, right? People you trust?"

Sienna thought about it for a moment, her mind racing through the list of names she had accumulated over the centuries. Freya was an obvious choice, and maybe even Elijah, if he could be convinced. But Jenna was right—they didn't have to rely on Klaus. There were other allies, other people who could help them.

"Maybe," Sienna said slowly, a small flicker of hope lighting up in her chest. "It's risky, but there are others who might help. We'd have to reach out to them carefully, though."

Jenna's eyes brightened a little. "Then let's do that. We don't have to face this alone. There's still a way out of this that doesn't involve Klaus."

Sienna nodded, the idea beginning to take shape in her mind. "I'll make some calls. See if anyone's willing to help."

The fire crackled as the two of them sat in silence for a moment longer, the tension easing just a little now that they had a potential plan. Sienna felt the weight on her shoulders lighten, even if only slightly. They weren't out of the woods yet—not by a long shot—but at least now, they had a direction.

The sound of Jenna shifting on the couch broke the silence again. "Thank you," she said softly, her eyes meeting Sienna's with a warmth that hadn't been there earlier. "For protecting me. For... everything."

Sienna felt a warmth spread through her chest at Jenna's words. She had been so focused on keeping Jenna safe that she hadn't realized how much it meant to her to hear those words.

"I'll always protect you," Sienna said softly, her voice filled with conviction. "No matter what."

Jenna smiled faintly, the tension between them finally starting to dissolve. But before they could settle into the brief comfort of the moment, a sudden knock on the door shattered the calm.

Sienna shot up from the couch, her heart pounding in her chest. Jenna's eyes widened, fear flashing across her face.

"Who...?" Jenna whispered, her voice trembling.

Sienna held up a hand to silence her, moving swiftly toward the door. Her senses were on high alert, every muscle in her body tensed as she reached for the handle. Whoever was on the other side, it wasn't a friendly visit.

Slowly, she opened the door just enough to peek outside. Her breath caught in her throat as she saw the figure standing in the moonlight, his face familiar but worn with exhaustion.

"Elijah," Sienna breathed, her voice filled with a mix of relief and confusion.

Her brother stood before her, his usually composed expression softened by concern. "Sienna," Elijah said, his voice low but urgent. "We need to talk."

Sienna stepped aside, allowing him to enter. Jenna watched cautiously from the sofa, unsure of whether to feel relieved or more worried.

"Elijah," Sienna said, closing the door behind him. "What's going on? Why are you here?"

Elijah turned to face her, his eyes serious. "I've been tracking Lucian's followers. They're mobilizing faster than I expected. Klaus isn't the only one looking for you, Sienna. You need to be prepared for what's coming."

Sienna's stomach dropped. She had known the threat was looming, but hearing it from Elijah made it all the more real.

"How bad is it?" she asked, her voice barely above a whisper.

Elijah's gaze flickered to Jenna, then back to Sienna. "Bad enough that we don't have much time. We need to act now."

Sienna exchanged a glance with Jenna, her heart sinking. The calm before the storm was over. The real fight was about to begin.
