It was a usual morning in Shergill house. Everyone was getting ready for their respective workplace when suddenly a guard barged in with sweat glistening on his forehead. He was heaving and shaking, while everyone was looking at him with shock, doubt and anxiety. When no one could utter a word for few minutes, Ardaas Singh Shergill walked past his family members and held his guard to grasp his attention.
" What's wrong sukh? Why are you so scared and baffled?" His guard looked at him and then turned around towards the entrance of the mansion.
Everyone shifted their attention towards the entrance when they saw a man walking inside with red eyes and bloodied knuckles. He was adorned in a black pathani with a shawl wrapped around his one shoulder. He was wearing a turban around his head and a kada on his wrist.
" Kon ho tum aur ander kisne aane Diya tumhe. GUARDS!!!!! BAHAR NIKALO ISSE" everyone heard Ardaas shouting for his guards to throw the intruder out of their house. But when he looked in the eyes of the well build man, he was unable to hold his gaze even for few seconds.
( who are you and who let you in. GUARDS!! THROW HIM OUT)That man's aura screamed danger and royalty.
Sensing the gravity of the situation Amrit Singh Shergill, father of Ardaas stepped in and stood infront of the man. He was shocked when he saw a similar pair of eyes staring back into his.
" Kon ho tum BETA aur yaha kya lene aaye ho?" He couldn't shake the feeling of familiarity with the hulking man.
( who are you SON and what do you want from us)" Mera naam VIKRAM SHERGILL hai aur mai yaha kuch sawalon ke jawab dhundhte hue aaya hun." The man finally said in a baritone voice.
( My name is VIKRAM SHERGILL and I came here looking for answers to my question)VIKRAM POV
As soon as I said my name everyone gasped and looked shocked. But what I couldn't shake was how the old man standing infront of me started shivering and his eyes started watering. He looked at me from head to toe with tearful eyes and started moving towards me.
I moved my eyes to the faces of all the family members when it stopped on the woman standing at the back. Her eyes looked fearful and forehead glisten with sweat beads. Something didn't set well with her and my instinct were kicking in.
" Ve....veerji" I looked at the source of that small whisper and looked at man standing beside me. His eyes were filled with tears but a small smile was playing on his lips.
" Veer...ji aap.....aap kaha chale gaye the....hum......hum sabko chorkar" he said and held my bloodied hand in his. His eyes never left my face and I couldn't help but pull him into a warm embrace.
( Veer... ji you....where did you go leaving us all)I couldn't utter a word but gently patted on his back to calm him down. I then saw a small girl walked in the living area but stopped as soon as she saw the scene playing infront of her eyes.
" Maa! Ye sab kya ho raha hai? Aur ye kon hai? Sab roh kyun rahe hai?" The woman standing beside that girl held her hand to make her mouth shut.
( Maa! What's happening here? And who is he? Why is everyone crying?)" Vikram... Vikram mere bete. Tumhe pta hai humne kaha kaha nhi dhundha tumhe. Kitne saalon se iss ghadi ka intzaar karte rahe hum sab." My father said with tears. I felt a little calm wash through me but it was lacking something.
( Vikram.....Vikram my son. Do you know how long we were looking for you. We were waiting for this moment for so long)My father walked towards that girl and pulled her gently towards me- " puttar ye tumhare Vikram bhaiya hai. Itne saalon se jinke bare mein tum sunti aayi ho, ye wahi hai."
I looked at the girl. She looked so small infront of me but she smiled at me and with hesitation she wrapped her arms around my torso.
" Welcome home bhaiya. Mera naam vaari hai aur main aapki choti behen hun" I placed my hand on her head and creased gently.
After few minutes, I heard Ardaas voice which broke my trance and I looked at him.
" Ji aap kon?" He said looking behind me. I turned around and walked towards my Rakaan. I held her small chooda filled hands in my big rough ones. We walked towards everyone and I made her stand beside me and kept my hand possessively around her small waist.
( Who are you miss?)" Ye meri patni hai- Mrs. Anika Vikram Shergill" not even a second passed when everyone looked at me with doubt but soon it replaced with a small smile.
( She is my wife- Mrs. Anika Vikram Shergill)" Ji namaste" Mahi joined her hands and wished everyone. I couldn't help the smile that crossed my lips.
" Namaste bhabhi......aap kitni pyaari ho. Btw mai aapki choti se nanad hun" I chuckled at vaari's straight forwardness but couldn't miss the blush that formed on my jaana's chubby cheeks.
( You are so sweet btw I am your little sister-in-law)" Welcome home Vikram and Anika." I looked at the woman standing beside my father. I walked towards her, me and Mahi bend down to touch her feet, she blessed us and took off her diamond bangles sliding them in Mahi's hands.
Ardaas touched Mahi's feet and took her blessings.
After spending some time everyone retrieved back to their respective rooms. I asked for a room in the ground floor as it is a new place and I don't want Mahi to feel overwhelmed.
SOMEWHERE
" HOW COULD YOU LEAVE ME? HE SOULD HAVE DIED LONG BACK.....YOU IDIOT" a woman gritted her teeth on a phone call.
" He wouldn't be alive for long madam. Just wait for few more days. Boss will be returning back from Japan by the end of this week" the man on the otherside said in tension clearly visible in his voice.
" You better do you job this time without any mistakes....DID YOU HEAR ME!!!" and then the phone was cut
I WILL MAKE SURE THAT THIS TIME YOU WILL BE AS GOOD AS DEAD VIKRAM
