Actually, there were no classes scheduled for the day, and Si Nian had simply found an excuse to leave early. After all, it was her first day on the job, and even if she didn't have classes to teach, she couldn't just leave early and risk giving the higher-ups a bad impression. But now, with Li Fenghua making a scene, Si Nian had a perfect reason to leave. It wasn't her choice to go—it was Li Fenghua who had told her to get out.
This way, the issue shifted from being about Si Nian's actions to Li Fenghua's. Si Nian was more than happy to walk away, letting the situation resolve itself.
No one expected that a young teacher in this day and age could be so bold.
As Si Nian was leaving, the two teachers who had been with her in the assistant director's office earlier rushed after her, worried that she had been too impulsive.
"Ms. Si, you're making a huge mistake. Do you know how many people would kill for this job? And you're quitting on your very first day—it's just too foolish."
"Exactly. Sure, Director Li can be harsh, but once you've been here a while, she'll ease up. We all went through the same thing when we started."
The two teachers thought Si Nian was making a huge mistake. To them, this job was golden—something people would fight tooth and nail for. They believed she would regret her decision by tomorrow. After all, the assistant director had specifically asked them to help her out since she was new; otherwise, they wouldn't have gone out of their way to chase after her and offer advice.
"If you leave today, there's no coming back. Director Li holds more power than even the assistant director. Offending her could really make things difficult for you."
The two continued offering all sorts of advice, but their message was clear: endure it, don't make waves.
Si Nian, however, simply smiled and said, "That's impossible. I came here to work, not to make myself miserable. If I tolerate it now, I'll end up feeling frustrated for the rest of my life."
"And besides, the severance pay is for three months—it's a decent amount. Even if I stayed at this school for six months, I wouldn't earn much more than that. I'm actually quite pleased that Director Li gave me this opportunity."
Opportunity?
The two teachers were stunned by her response.
The two teachers were taken aback by her words. While they thought Si Nian had lost her mind, they recognized that if she performed well at this school, she could potentially return even after going to college. Why escalate things to this level?
But seeing the fearless expression on Si Nian's face, they couldn't help but ask, "So, does that mean you have some kind of backing? Is that why you're not afraid of Director Li?"
They weren't as familiar with Si Nian as they were with the assistant director. All they knew was that she was young, beautiful, and talented. Now that they looked at her closely, it made sense—most families wouldn't raise such a poised young woman.
Si Nian shook her head. "I don't have any backing."
"No backing? Then how can you be so bold? Well, I've warned you. It's up to you whether you want to listen or not." After testing the waters, the teacher sighed, realizing there was no point in trying to persuade her further. If Si Nian offended Director Li, even if she did return, it wouldn't be easy for her.
At this point, even though the assistant director had introduced her to the school, there would be no saving her. The assistant director simply didn't have the same influence as the Li family.
Almost all the teachers had concluded that Si Nian was finished. They all reported to Li Fenghua, and anyone she disliked would have no chance of returning to the school.
