Bi Jan was a kind lady, and she had been realizing it with each passing day. Spending time with her became such a beautiful hobby for Andaleeb. As though she had gotten the relations back by just this one figure. This evening Bi Jan had asked her to come to her room.

When she reached, she found the old woman holding her books and cleaning them off with a cloth before settling them back. Bi Jan loved reading, and she got a wooden shelf built on the cornermost wall of her room. Even at such an extreme age, her eyesight was fine, and she was able to read.

"Assalamualaikum Bi Jan," she greeted her with a warm smile.

Bi Jan's lips spread as well. Her eyes filled with adoration for her. "Walaikum Assalam beta. How are you?"

"I am fine. Why are you doing this yourself?" Andaleeb asked, gesturing towards a book in her hand with her eye movement.

Bi Jan softly smiled. "Sit down, Andaleeb," she told her, tugging her white dupatta over her head. She was wearing a white dress, and the light on her face, and her apparent affection made her almost come across as an angel to Andaleeb. Did she even know what her grandson had been doing? But who was she to complain when she had been doing worse than him? She nodded before sitting on one of the sofas stretched across the left side of the room.

"I love doing these small things. Staying idle just bores me and makes me feel I am useless. These books are like my own children to me. So I want to take care of them like I do with you all  Everyone here is busy in their own lives. But now, since you came, I love talking to you, knowing you more, and spending time with you," she explained.

"That's the same for me too, Bi Jan. I always remember my grandmother whenever I look at you," Andaleeb commented, excitedly.

Bi Jan raised a brow in surprise. "I am your grandmother too, Andaleeb. Where your grandmother has been these days?"

Andaleeb fumbled with her nails as she pressed her lips together. "She is no more. She died when I was just a kid. I was very attached to her and I cried so much when she left us."

"Oh, I am so sorry to hear that, beta. But you can consider me as your grandmother. As Masab's grandmother, I am yours too," she murmured.

Andaleeb nodded. "Of course Bi Jan."

She was stunned when suddenly Bi Jan came forward and then kissed her forehead. "I am so glad that Masab married you. I was so afraid of him becoming a workaholic, unhappy in life, and stoic. But since you came into this house, I saw my grandson living his life, not just spending it. You have filled this house with happiness too."

Andaleeb bit her lower lip in anxiety. Bi Jan was so innocent as she didn't know the truth. "Aren't you angry at me because I didn't come to this house as a daughter-in-law with your permission? I mean we married behind your back."
