Diana's POV
– 20th Breeding Term –
Neptune had a cheeky smile on his face, as his Stealth moves in and out.
I'm about to find out what his sheepish look is all about.
My next mate waltzes into the room. A silver Enta, wings dragging but now cinching behind his back at the sight of Neptune.
"Get out," Regor approaches my Keeper, who's holding Beam, Alnitak's daughter. She's sleepy like her sister, wrapped in a soft blanket, snuggled in the crook of Neptune's collarbone as he holds her up with one hand.
For some reason, she knew I trusted Neptune because she was happy with him, but as Regor bares his fangs at Neptune, Beam opens her eyes and gives Regor a beautiful 'death' stare full of judgement. She has one bright gold eye, one dark purple. They're so big and wide, but one stare and Regor stops growling and steps back, scared.
"Female?" Regor whispers, "No, no, no. Get it away."
"Hold her," Neptune teases him, smiling wider, "She's a sweety."
Regor bites his fangs together, backing up so far he trips on the bed and scrambles back to me – not next to me, over me. He's squishing me down into the bed as I push him up, but he's heavy.
"Regor," I growl, "Are you scared of girls?"
"No," Regor growls, a lie, "I don't like her."
Neptune bursts out laughing – but then I hear Beam cry out in distress, as if she realised she was just rejected.
"Say sorry to Beam," Neptune suddenly snarls, no longer amused.
Regor freezes but at least he's leaning a bit off me now, as Neptune brings her closer and forces him to watch her be so sad.
"Ineta," Regor apologises in Elion, and Neptune is satisfied with that.
Beam too, as she stops crying and resumes staring at Regor with her intense wide-eyed look.
Regor turns to me, shivering, "I never spill secrets," he grabs my neck, "I hate snitches – but this, this I didn't expect. You're having daughters, aren't you?" he lays next to me, pulling me onto his chest and hugging me with his arms, seeking comfort from the trauma of meeting a cute little helpless baby.
Not so helpless, though, with her beaming look.
Neptune has gone with sweet Beam, taking her to Lyra.
I held her for two hours, staring into her eyes as she looked into mine, so content and calm and full of wisdom. Definitely like Alnitak, who was a deep thinker.
Alnilak didn't come to the birth, he was too distraught by the fact that he 100% fell in love with me and he kept denying it. By seeing a girl, he'd be proven weak. So he was skulking probably in Neastron, meditating about how he fell for a puny human.
Alnilam didn't have shame about it, but his older brother was definitely into Kor tradition.
Regor leans back, sighing, his white eyes and silver skin, shining in the darkness of the birthing chamber, "I feel like I have to apologise to you, Orkora."
"Why?" I lean up, to see him looking away from me.
"I had no assets to purchase you, I only got to breed you out of pity from the remaining Kors who haven't mated you yet. So, you must think I didn't want you... but I am poor," Regor is speaking so seriously, that it almost sounds like some dark joke.
