The Mind Does Crazy Things

Valentine's Day pt.2

The week went by fast. It's already Saturday and here I am, looking through my closet for something to wear.

"(Y/n), it's just Shadow. You've known each other for years. He doesn't care about what you wear,"Rouge said as she sat on my bed. "I know, but I still want to look nice,"I said. "Shadow always thinks you look nice,"Rouge said.

After about another ten minutes, I finally picked out an outfit. A bright red sweater with a matching beanie, white skinny jeans, and black boots. My hair was worn down with loose curls.

I smiled at myself in the mirror and grabbed my phone. In the time it took me to get dressed, Rouge got dressed as well and was waiting for me downstairs. I walked downstairs. "Ready?"she asked. I nodded. We exited the house and got into our car.

It was a forty-five minute drive to the mansion, so we actually closed the café a little earlier than usual. Rouge started the engine and pulled out of the driveway. We were off.

I turned on the radio. All that was playing was love songs, like Thinking Out Loud or I Really Like You. It would've been a quiet ride if Rouge and I weren't talking and singing along to whatever came on the radio.

When we made it, it was already 8:52. There was already a bunch of people there. Cars were parked all over yard. Rouge parked and we got out the car. We made our way up to the front doors. There was a note on one of the doors that said 'Come on in!' in big, bold letters.

As soon as I opened the door, we were met by loud music and over a hundred people. Straight ahead, there were stairs but they were crowded with people. I spotted Crystal talking with some girls that I didn't know. Must be some people she met on tour. She was wearing a red party dress that came a little above her knees, a black leather jacket that was rolled up at the elbows, and black combat boots. He hair was pulled back into a high ponytail.

"Crys!"I called out to her. She turned and smiled brightly. She waved at the other girls and made her way towards us. "Hey, you made it! You guys look great!"she smiled. "You too!"I said. "Who all did you invite to the party?"Rouge asked as she looked around some more. "Friends, people around town, people we met on tour. Whoever wanted to come basically. Oh yeah! Knuckles and Shadow have been looking for you two!"Crys said.

"Do you know where we can find them?"I asked. "Umm...yeah! Last time I saw them, they were talking with Manic and Silver around the food table. Come on, I'll take you,"Crys said.

She led us through the river of people to a table filled with food. Drinks, chips, candy, lots of different party foods filled the table. All the way at the end of the table, were Shadow, Knuckles, Manic, Sonia, Silver, and Blaze.

Silver was holding Blaze close by his side while they talked to the others. Sonia looked a little worried. I wonder why.

We walked over to them. "Hey, guys! Look who I find!"Crystal sing-songed. Everyone smiled and greeted Rouge and I. Rouge walked over and gave Knuckles a kiss.

"Hey,"Shadow smiled at me. "Hi,"I smiled back. I heard Rouge clear her throat and I glanced over at her. She was hugging Knuckles. Her eyebrows went up and her lips pursed, an old way of her silently trying to get me to do something.

Well, of course I was going to give Shadow a hug. I mentally rolled my eyes at her and gave Shadow a hug, complete with a peck on the cheek. She smiled triumphantly and whispered in Knuckles's ear. "Knuckles and I are going to go...dance. Blaze, Silver, would you guys like to come along?"Rouge smiled at them. Blaze smiled and nodded. "Sure. Come on, Silv,"she said.

Blaze dragged Silver off, ignoring his whines about not wanting to dance.

I narrowed my eyes at the back of Rouge's head as she walked away. I see what she did there. I looked back at Sonia, still curious about what's bugging her. She was looking down at her phone with an upset expression.
