The 'T' in Taerae was constantly nagging him that whatever crazy belief he had was untrue and he should just fuck it and go back to sleep but Taerae knew it wasn't just a hunch. The world was ending. For real. He had been hearing stuff around about a meteor hitting earth anytime. Prior to that morning, he'd never believed that crap, cause the world was about to end in 2012 as well, people made a fuss about it all around him. But did that happen? No. So why would it happen in 2024 if there's no scientific explanation or anything? They were fine, the world was fine.

But he couldn't rest. The feeling he had, it wasn't paranoia. It's like a divine indication that was preparing him beforehand. It probably was a chance, a gift to him for his good deeds. It's like the world wanted him to do everything he wanted on the very last day.

Matthew. He thought. They were the best of friends. But lately, due to their busy life, they could barely meet. It's been days Taerae had last seen him. If it's the last day on earth for anyone, shouldn't he be seeing the face that takes all his worries away?

If the world really does end, they should be next to each other.

He pulled out his phone, 6:48 am. Quite early for a lot of people, especially for a sleep lover like Matthew. But the day was different. Nothing will matter after this anymore. So he better call the man.

And he did. A few rings later, a groggy voice answered. Taerae felt like his soul had returned to him. It was Matthew's sweet voice. He missed the guy so much!

"Hello?" Matthew spoke in English. Taerae felt a pain of happiness inside. He answered, "Matthew yah, we should meet today."

"Mm." The other side said. He was too sleepy to say anything else.

"Okay? Then, I'm coming over. Cancel everything you have, your work, any appointment, any other plan. You should be with me the whole day."

"Mm, okay." Said the Canadian. It was still too early for him. Satisfied, Taerae hung up. He had that eerie sensation inside him. They were all going to die? Just like that? Would no human be alive? If not, would the human race be a history only? Like dinosaurs? Or would they evolve again from other forms of life? Would the new race look like them? Would they find the existence of the current race? If so, would they find him or any of his remains? Would he be able to still be next to Matthew?

Okay he must stop before he goes utterly crazy thinking about all these. He should rather focus on what's important. Going to meet Matthew. For, he wanted the last seconds of his life to be next to the man he loved.

His best friend.

It took him around twenty minutes to reach the destination. He knew Matthew was still fast asleep. So before ringing the doorbell, he called the man just to make sure. Soon enough, a bloodshot eyed, tired, sleepy looking Canadian man opened up.

Taerae wouldn't be able to see him anymore. Heck, none of them would even exist. A blunt pain ran down his chest. He stepped inside and immediately gave the man a hug. Confused, Matthew hugged him back, patting on his back constantly.

".. what's up?" He asked. Taerae pulled away, then said, "I told you I was coming."

"Oh, yeah. Right." Matthew yawned. Then let him in. Taerae looked around the familiar place. His heart hurt. He didn't wanna die. Didn't wanna lose his best friend. They were both too young to die.
