[ONE WEEK LATER]
[Musutafu Train Station]
"You've got your costumes, right?" Aizawa mumbled, his low voice barely cutting through the steady buzz of activity at the bustling train station. Around them, commuters hurried along, immersed in their daily routines. Yet, a few curious onlookers stopped to gawk, recognizing the group of first-year students from Class 1-A. Their faces were fresh in the public consciousness after the Sports Festival, a double-edged sword that brought both pride and unwanted attention.
"Yeah!" Class 1-A shouted in unison, their voices brimming with enthusiasm. The excitement was palpable, their anticipation almost tangible. This was it, their internships. A chance to experience the hero world beyond the walls of U.A. High. The metal briefcases in their hands, containing their hero costumes, looked comically oversized compared to some of their smaller frames. Yet, each student held onto theirs with a sense of reverence, knowing the responsibility that came with donning them.
"Listen up." Aizawa barked, his tone sharp enough to cut through the chatter. His piercing gaze swept over the group like a stern parent. "You're not just students anymore. You're representing this school, and me. Be on your best behaviour."
A collective nod rippled through the group, some more nervous than others.
As the students dispersed toward their respective platforms, the air filled with a blend of hurried conversations and final well-wishes.
"This is gonna be so fun!" Hagakure's cheerful voice rang out as she scrolled through her phone, trying to confirm her train's arrival time.
"You're headed to Kyushu, right?" Kirishima asked, nudging Todoroki and gesturing toward the opposite platform. "Pretty sure your train's that way."
Midoriya and Uraraka couldn't help but notice Ida moving with uncharacteristic detachment.
He had slipped away from the group without so much as a word, his usual precise, polite demeanour replaced by something distant, almost mechanical.
Midoriya's stomach tightened. They all knew about what had happened to Ingenium, Ida's older brother. The news had been relentless after the Sports Festival, detailing the brutal attack by Stain, the infamous Hero Killer. The villain had already claimed the lives of seventeen pro-heroes and left twenty-three more permanently out of commission.
It was a dark shadow hanging over the otherwise hopeful day.
"Hey, Ida!" Midoriya called out, jogging to catch up to him. Uraraka followed, concern etched into her expression.
Ida paused, his posture rigid.
When he turned, his face bore the same collected mask he always wore, but his friends weren't fooled.
"If it ever gets too much..." Midoriya began, his voice soft but earnest. "We're here for you."
"Just say something, okay? We're your friends."
Uraraka nodded, her worried eyes searching his face for a crack in his stoic facade.
For a fleeting moment, Ida's expression faltered, as if something inside him was warring to escape. But then it was gone, buried beneath a practiced smile that didn't quite reach his eyes.
"Sure." He said simply, his voice flat, almost hollow.
Without waiting for a reply, he turned and strode toward his platform, leaving the two behind.
Midoriya exchanged a worried glance with Uraraka, she bit her lip but didn't respond.
They both knew the truth.
