[10:20 AM, Landslide Zone, U.S.J., U.A. High School]
"What's this zone, then?" Shinso asked as the trio passed through the gate, leaving the Ruins Zone behind. The transition felt abrupt, the chaotic remnants of the cityscape giving way to a stark, towering mountain.
It dominated their view, its jagged peak rising so high it nearly grazed the facility's glass ceiling.
The Landslide Zone was strange, almost surreal. A mass of sloped terrain sprawled before them, speckled with shattered buildings, enormous trees, some uprooted and suspended at awkward angles, and heaps of stone that seemed ready to give way at the slightest provocation. Compared to the claustrophobic confines of the Ruins Zone, this place was far more open, but that openness came with its own challenges.
It didn't just look difficult to traverse, it felt harder.
"The Landslide Zone." [Y/N] replied, his voice steady as they approached the base of the incline. The terrain offered no clear paths, just scattered debris and slopes that seemed to stretch endlessly upward. "I was sent here during the Villain attack." His eyes darted across their surroundings, scanning for any sign of their pursuer.
But this place didn't seem to suit Aizawa's style of combat.
"Aizawa can't use this zone to his advantage like the last one."
"How come?" Honenuki asked, trailing just behind him.
Unlike the confined spaces of the destroyed city, the Landslide Zone immediately demanded more from them physically. The incline they began to ascend was steep, forcing every step to be deliberate. The loose rocks shifted beneath their weight, threatening to send them sliding back down with every misstep. Shinso groaned quietly, clearly unenthused. He'd only just begun serious physical training, and a trek like this already felt like a marathon.
"It's too open." [Y/N] explained, gesturing to the mountainside ahead. "In the Ruins Zone, there were plenty of places to hide, he could pick us off before we even knew he was there. But here? It's just flat terrain and long stretches. He's fast and quiet, sure, but we'd see him coming from a mile away."
"Giving us a break? I doubt it..." Shinso muttered, his voice laced with frustration.
The climb quickly became agonizing, their clothes still damp from Honenuki's previous distraction. Every drop of water weighed on them, making the ascent all the more gruelling.
"It gives us time to think." [Y/N] remarked, though his gaze was fixed on the mountain's peak. The jagged summit loomed ominously above, and his mind lingered on the zone's name. Landslide Zone. The title wasn't just for show. Entire buildings were visible beneath layers of rock and stone, half-buried as though swallowed by the earth. A troubling thought crept into his mind. Would they trigger a landslide? Was it controlled by machinery? And if so, when?
