THE EVENING WAS UNUSUALLY quiet as you rummaged through your expansive wardrobe, the open suitcase on your bed already half filled with carefully chosen clothes.

the anticipation for tomorrow's trip to Okinawa had you buzzing, even as you contemplated what else to pack.

you held up a few shirts, comparing them to a pair of shorts, before sighing and tossing them into the suitcase.

it was a tedious process, but you were determined to look your best—after all, you weren't about to let anyone outshine you.

just as you folded a jacket, a faint thud broke through the silence, making you pause. your head snapped toward the window, eyes narrowing.

was that...? no, it couldn't be. curiosity got the better of you as you slowly walked over, pushing the curtains aside to get a better look.

the moment your fingers unlocked the latch and swung the window open, your heart nearly jumped out of your chest.

"Michael?!" you almost yelled in shock, your voice a combination of disbelief and annoyance.

there he was, Michael Kaiser, balancing effortlessly on the ledge outside your window with his trademark smirk plastered across his face.

his blond hair glowed faintly under the moonlight, and his eyes held that mischievous sparkle you'd come to associate with trouble.

"you look surprised." he drawled, as if his presence was the most normal thing in the world.

your shock quickly morphed into irritation as your fist clenched instinctively. "what the hell are you doing here?!"

without giving him a chance to answer, you swung a punch in his direction, only for him to catch your wrist gently, his grip firm but surprisingly soft. his smirk never wavered, and he even had the audacity to chuckle.

"you're predictable," he teased, his blue eyes glinting. "you know, the last time you actually managed to land one on me. i'm learning."

you glared at him, trying to pull your hand free. "what are you doing sneaking into my room again? you know there's a door, right?"

"yeah, but where's the fun in that?" he replied, finally releasing your wrist. he leaned against the window frame casually, as if he belonged there.

"this isn't fun," you shot back, crossing your arms. "you're lucky i didn't scream and wake the whole house."

he grinned, leaning closer. "but you didn't. that's what i love about you—always keeping me on my toes."

you rolled your eyes, turning away from the window to resume packing. "if you don't have a good reason for being here, you can go back to wherever you came from. i'm busy."
