Tiny Hero
"Well, if you insist." Said Rookery "Take this safety line."
"Not that I'll need it!" said the confident caretaker. Rookery hooked the caretaker up to the safety line and gave him the flashlight before lowering him into the hole.
Tony laid on his side wide awake, he seemed troubled as I watched the boy who was supposed to be sleeping.
The caretaker was now inside the catacombs that the Sackville-Bagg family slept in. Little did he know, Rookery was using him as live bait for the sleeping vampires. Gregory could smell the caretaker in his sleep. He leapt from the ceiling to his feet and began to stalk the caretaker. And eventually, he attacked. Rookery could feel the attack by the tightening of the safety line and the rapid movement. He began to laugh evilly as he reversed the safety line so that it was now pulling the caretaker back out of the hole.
"The line grows taught. His heart pounds. He knows what son the other end of the line, and he relishes the fight!" Rookery said aloud to himself. As the caretakers body was swiftly pulled back to the hole entrance, Gregory chased after him. Rudolph waking in the process. Rudolph chased after his brother and did his best to get him to let go. Thankfully Rudolph pulled Gregory off of the caretaker just before they were fully out of the hole. Rookery checked the caretakers neck for bites and found some.
"Bingo." he said.
"Are you sure we should be sneaking out again Tone, I got a bad feeling." I said as i transformed into a human as Tony and I walked out of the front door.
Anna, Fredrick, and Freda came running towards the commotion that Rudolph and Gregory had caused.
"You bit him?" asked Fredrick angrily.
"Just a taste." Gregory shrugged off.
"Was it worth betraying your family?" his father asked him. He turned to look at Fredrick. Anger and confusion on his face.
"Well, you're the traitor, forever denying the truth of us. We are dark gods, but you've turned us into cowards. Skulking 'round our holes like worms." Gregory retorted pointing an accusatory finger at his father. Fredrick looked around bewildered, shocked, and angry.
"What would you have us do?"
"Fight back! Make these mortals blood run cold!" Fredrick took a step forward toward his eldest son. An unknown emotion on his face.
"And you could do it Gregory, you're young strong and ruthless. And willing to risk a stake through the heart to prove it." He spat before turning away. Not before turning back to look at his son once more.
"Better a stake than this prison!" Gregory snapped.
Mean while, Rookery was above their catacombs, getting ready for another fight.
"Slow down Tone, you're to far ahead." I said chasing after Tony through the cemetery whilst looking for the secret catacomb entrance.
While Gregory and his family bickered, Rookery slowly lowered down a large light into the catacomb hole.
"Do you think me oblivious?" shouted Fredrick.
"What's it matter to you what I think?" retorted Gregory.
"It matters greatly, and I feel your sting." Said Fredrick.
"But you are Fredrick The Great! You feel nothing!" Gregory shouted. At this point Tony and I had made our way into the catacomb. And Rookery's plan was set in motion.
"Let there be light!" He shouted before turning on his large light. The children began to scream in pain as Freda and Fredrick frantically tried to get the children backed away through their own pain and blindness. Fredrick placed himself in front of his family gallantly and threw his cape wide to protect them from the light.
"Run!" He yelled. Rookery couldn't have been more delighted to hear the screams.
"We've uncovered a whole flock!" He cheered. "Oh, thank you so much for your public spirit." He said to the bitten caretaker.
Tony and I heard the screaming and ran faster, I of course placed myself in front of him.
"Oh my god, Rookery's killing them with the light!" I shouted. "We have to get the light off! They'll burn to ash if we don't!" I wasn't going to let my boys best friend or his family die. Not tonight, not ever, unless they tried to hurt Tony of course. I jumped on the light and tried ripping off of the cord but for some reason I wasn't strong enough. Thankfully I didn't need to be, I had ripped a small hole in the cage around the light bubbles and Tony, the little hero, threw a rock directly into it, shutting off the light, and saving his friend and his family. My chest swelled with pride. Fredrick was battered and tired, he took the brunt of the light. Rudolph smiled at us. Anna called Tony her hero. Gregory though, had his eyes on me like I was a fine wine, well, a fine blood type, and he was thirsty. I couldn't tell if it was awe for saving him, or his natural bloodlust that radiated off of him in waves. Rookery was none to happy, he pulled the light up quickly then shouted down the hole.
"Hey!"
"I found out about the coat of arms." Said Tony softly to Fredrick. "It's Lord McAshton's. My fathers boss. The missing stone must be at his house." He said. The family remained quiet.
"Did you hear me sir?" He asked timidly. I put a hand on his shoulder.
"He's very weak right now buddy, give him a second."
"You barely saved my life." Fredrick finally spoke.
"He's very, very weak." said Freda gently.
"I know just what you need!"
