Beep...

Beep...

Beep...

I sat in the hospital room listening to the machine run as it pumped oxygen and fluids into Kaya's battered body. My only focus was on how long it would be before she woke up. My emotions were all over the place. Hurt, anger, guilt for not answering the phone, guilt for not being able to find her the whole time she was missing. Chris bitch ass will pop up again. And this will be his last time fucking with my woman.

{Flashback}

When I reached the gas station, I rushed inside to see an older black woman and a few others surrounding her, holding her steady.

"Kaya baby wake you ok?" I patted her face. I internally panicked. "Kaya?"

"Young man, you need to get this girl to the hospital. We called the ambulance but you got here quicker." The cashier said coming from behind the counter.

Nodding my head. I looked her over quickly noticing the blood on the floor. "Fuck" I mumbled. Where could that be coming from.

I don't even think twice before I threw her arms over my shoulders and hoisted her up over my shoulders.

Carefully but quickly walking to my truck, some random customer that was waiting with her helped open my door for me to place her inside. They walked over to the other side opening the door to catch her shoulders and we gentle lifted her laying her on her back.

"Thank you thank you." I nodded to the guy who was probably around my age.

"No problem. I hope she's ok."  He spoke as I hopped in and sped off to the hospital. Since Landon hadn't made it there I called, informing him to meet at the ER. Once hanging up with him I called my parents and to tell them we got Kaya.

They were away on the west coast for a business meeting and said they were catching the next closest flight back home.

Leaving the car running. I jetted inside the electric sliding doors heading straight to the desk. Some nurses were coming from the back to most likely call someone back who had been waiting.

"I need help. My girlfriend is in the car and she's passed out and is bleeding bad please." I blurted out. The nurses all turned rushing over to me.

"She needs a gurney please. She's been passed out now for too long." I ran back out to my truck and checked her pulse. She's still breathing.

Seconds later the glass doors open and out rushed a few nurses. I stepped out of the way holding my composure the best I could, letting one of them hop in the truck to check her.

"She's breathing but it's shallow. Let's get that mask ready. Mister?"

"Payne." I answered quickly.

"Do you think you can assist us? Any details on what happened?" I help them in assisting with lifting her up. They place the gurney under and pressed an oxygen tank to her mouth. As we sped thru the lobby, I explained the little bit that I was told. Next we were all running thru the corridor.

"Sir, you can't go back here." A petite Hispanic lady said calmly. I didn't want to let baby girl hand go. They stood at the doors waiting for me to release her.

"Sir?" She spoke again, this time I complied. Watching as they disappeared behind the white doors.

"Dee?... Dee?." I heard two people calling me. I turned just as Landon and Mia ran up to me.
