"Go!" was the only word that I heard from my brother, as the ringing in my ears continued. He stepped back from the position he had been, where he had thrown the two of us too the ground, to protect us. He threw his body over mine to protect me. He was a protector. "Go!" he ordered again, and I crawled to my feet, staying low, as I made my way to the door.
I wasn't sure why he wasn't coming with, and when I looked to him, he was watching me leave, like it would be the last chance he got to see me. It was like he was trying to remember me, his little sister, for for the last time. I gave him one final glace, before I was out the door, and suddenly arms wrapped around me.
"Get off me!" I tried to push the person away, but they just held me at arms length, giving me a once over. I made eye contact with the person, and immediately felt like my guard was down a little more. Ace did one final check in the room, through the window on the door, before he was ushering me away from the front entrance that we had come up, and towards a back entrance.
He burst through a door, where I could only see a few people rushing down the stairs, while Ace kept me close to him. It was hard, having someone hold onto you as you rushed down the stairs, but we made do, having to stop to let a few people out from lower levels. I wasn't sure if it was the panic or not, but I was glad that it was Ace, here with me, and not one of my other brothers.
I would tolerate Blade, or maybe even Diesel, but I had felt like I had been backstabbed by Phoenix in a way. I could care less about Hendrix any day of the week. I wasn't sure why I was thinking about the brothers that I held at the top of my hate list, when something had been shot through the window, and Axel had saved me.
Ace was walking me down the stairs, and when we got to a level, he pushed me through a door. "Find Hendrix or Diesel" it was peaceful in here, as the door swung behind us, before Ace was racing back out it, leaving me standing there. It looked as if I had come from a side door into a new level, my entire body shaking with fear, not knowing where I was.
I debated between going up and back to finding Ace and Axel, or maybe even just walking to the nearest boardroom, that had glass surrounding it. I couldn't tell from where I was standing if my brothers were in there or not, but I had a feeling that they were. The peace that was on this level, was outstanding, compared to the rush from the level that I had just been on.
It didn't feel real, that I had only gone down a few levels, and everything had changed like the flick of a switch. "Need something, sweetheart?" the way my skin crawled at the deep, seductive voice, and I immediately jumped away, turning myself to face the person that had walked up behind me, and using my arms to cover myself.
I immediately regretted this quick move, as I felt a sharp pain run from my collarbone and down my arm, but I said nothing. "I'm speaking to you" this was the first time in my entire life that I felt like I had lost my voice when it came to speaking to a man. "Umm, I'm just looking for Mr. Colombo" that was true, but I wasn't sure why I had blurted it out like that.
