I wanted to do one more chapter before the sad one. I really don't want to do it, because I really liked Carmine Falcone, but I know I have to.
Jim Gordon and Harvey Dent walk through the front gates of the Falcone estate. When they spot a man, Jim flashes his badge.
"GCPD," Jim said, "We're looking-"
"For my daughter and grandson," Carmine responds walking up to the two men, joining them, "You can stop, they're with me."
"Carmine," Jim and Harvey both say with surprise.
Didn't expect to see you," Jim said.
"I imagine not. I arrives this morning," Carmine explains and then says to Harvey Dent, "Mr. Dent, it's been a while."
"Yes it certainly has," Harvey agrees.
"You heard Sofia's in danger," Jim replies.
"Was in danger," Carmine corrects him, "I made a deal with Cobblepot. I take her and Leo out of Gotham today, and she lives."
"I made the same deal. He didn't keep it," Jim responds.
"He will with me," Carmine reassures him with a nod.
Jim gives a nod at that.
"Speaking of which, Carmine I want to talk to you about Leo," Harvey states.
"I had a feeling that would come," Carmine states thoughtfully.
"I don't know what your daughter told you but I didn't leave or abandon her," Harvey explained, "When we found out Sofia was pregnant, I was so happy. But a few days later she called me and said it was a miscarriage. I was going to go see her and talk to her about it, but she told me how she was too upset to see anyone. She wouldn't even answer my calls or my letters. I first suspected the truth when Sofia brought Leo to a bar that I met them at and when I called the hospital that Sofia and I started going to they confirmed it."
Carmine frowns, "I see."
Little did the three men know Leo came out with his backpack on his back and carrying his stuffed lion. When Leo saw his father he wanted to run over him, but he wanted to hear what he, his grandpa and the policeman were talking about.
"But that doesn't matter anymore," Harvey declares, "I don't want to miss out on anymore of Leo's life. I want Leo to stay here in Gotham with me."
"You have fight in you Harvey. I respect that and I can see that you would've been a good father," Carmine said, but then he shakes his head, "But I'm afraid Leo can't stay in Gotham."
Harvey frowned deeply, "Why not?"
"Because this city has proven to be too dangerous for Leo," Carmine states. "People may still fear my name, but that won't stop some people, who are crazy enough to do things, like hurting or kidnapping Leo. I should know."
"But I can protect him," Harvey promises.
"I'm sure you can, but you can't promise that you'll be with him all the time," Carmine responds, "I'm not trying to stop you from being in Leo's life or from being his father. I just want my grandson to be safe, although Sofia's actions have made it debatable I intend to correct it. I'm sorry Harvey, I'll make some arrangements, but Leo remaining in Gotham is out of the question."
Harvey wanted to argue back, but then he noticed Leo looking at them. Instead Harvey said, "Excuse me." He then made his way over to Leo.
"Hey Leo," Harvey said softly, but stopped when he saw the bruise, "Buddy what happened?" Leo was quiet and tried to hide his bruise, but Harvey stopped him from doing that. "Did someone hurt you?"
But instead of responding Leo just wrapped his arms around Harvey and whimpers. Harvey puts a hand on his son's head in comfort.
"It's okay," Harvey said gently, "It's okay."
"Daddy do I have to go back?" Leo asks.
"Do you not want to?" Harvey asks softly.
"I missed Grandpa," Leo admits.
"What about your mother?" Harvey asks.
Leo grew silent. Did Sofia do this to Leo? Harvey thought to himself, the thought of it made his blood boil. But just in case.
"Leo, do you mind if I take a couple pictures of your cheek?" Harvey asks gently.
Leo was confused but replied, "Okay."
Harvey snapped a few pictures of Leo's bruised cheek as he thought to himself, If Sofia really did hit Leo these could go well with the evidence but I know I'll need more. I know the system in Gotham is corrupt but that doesn't mean I shouldn't try fighting for Leo.
Meanwhile as Carmine and Jim were watching Harvey and Leo, Carmine looks to Jim and says, "I'm glad I never killed you."
Jim gives Carmine a look and says, "Thanks."
"Don't thank me," Carmine responds, "Killing you would've been a kindness. You have no idea what you brought to your city. I imagine when you find out the truth, it will destroy you."
Jim gives Carmine a puzzled look.
"That's a comfort," Carmine adds.
Next is the chapter I'm dreading to do. I hate Sofia for killing her father along with the other horrible things she's done.
