Chapter Thirteen
Lauren's Point of View:
On thanksgiving day, I woke up earlier than usual. Being the early bird I was, I usually woke up around eight o'clock every morning. This morning though, was different. I was up at five o'clock instead, finding it hard to fall back asleep.
I grabbed my phone which was plugged in beside me, seeing a few notifications. One was a text from Michael, or several texts, actually.
Michael!:
nicole is at my dorm with luke right now and she is so drunk oh mY GODMichael!:
but anyways i miss you :(Michael!:
i have no idea how different the time zones are but call me when you see this?Checking the times on the texts, it indicated that they were sent minutes before I woke up. Since I obviously wasn't going back to sleep anytime soon, I found myself dialing Michael's number.
"Happy Thanksgiving!" he answered after two rings.
Yawning, I smiled. Michael and I hadn't talked in a few days, so it was good being able to hear his voice. "Hi, you too."
"Did you just wake up? You sound tired. What time is it there?" he asked.
"Yeah, I did. Its five o'clock, I can't fall back asleep." I sighed, running my fingers through my tangled hair.
"Aw, I'm sorry love."
I shrugged, even though Michael wasn't able to see it. "I sometimes wish I wasn't such an early bird,"
Michael chuckled over the line. "Well at least you can actually get yourself up in the mornings. Luke has to literally drag me out of bed. If it weren't for him, I would probably be failing all of my classes."
I laughed. "So how was your birthday?" I asked, changing the subject. I did talk to Michael on his birthday, but the call didn't last long. My parents needed me to help with lunch, so I had to make it a quick phone call.
"It was pretty good, actually. I hung out with Nicole, Luke, and Calum at the frat house. Everyone there knew it was my birthday so I was kinda the center of attention. It was weird." he laughed.
"Still sounds fun," I smiled.
"But what about you? How's everything going back home?"
"Okay. Paige keeps asking about you." I laughed lightly.
"Aw, I miss that kid. What's she say?" Michael asked, laughing a little.
"She asked if we're like, together." I mumbled, not realizing how awkward it must've sounded.
"Oh, I see. And what did you tell her?"
Closing my eyes tightly, I inhaled and exhaled slowly before answering. "I told her I don't know.."
"Maybe we should change that then, shouldn't we?" Michael spoke quietly, and I could literally feel the grin on his face.
I bit my lip, somewhat grinning as well. "Maybe we should,"
"I really miss you," Michael said after a minute of silence. "I've been cuddling with my pillow and pretending that it's you."
I laughed, louder than I intended. Covering my mouth, I stifled my laugh so I wouldn't wake my family.
"That is so cute," I giggled. "I miss you too."
"I miss those lips of yours.. And the things they can do, and your tongue Lauren. Holy shit." Michael whispered.
