Okay so I'm giving them phones idc!
Lights POV:
Oddly it was quiet, only the crickets and frogs dare croak and chirp as the moon rises over the Rainbow Town. As bad as it is for me to stay here, especially out in the open, I didn't know where else to go.
Thankfully Rainbow didn't seem to be home tonight, and as much as I wanted to know where in the overworld he was at this time of night, but I'd rather not explain my recent adventures.
My phone buzzed in my pocket again, I don't have to guess who was texting me. Still I ignore it, like I've been doing for weeks. Maybe he'd finally get the literal message to leave me alone.
Eventually my phone went still, and the peaceful silence returned. I sigh with relief and lay back against the roof, chest rising and falling as I breathe in the cold night air.
I always loved the cold, maybe it was cause I could control it, well control snow and ice, but against the darkness my powers did little to dwindle it's strength.Suddenly it became deathly silent, the croaking and chirps became nonexistent in the night air. I sat up, looking around the lake to see what the cause of the silence. Nothing.
There's no way in hell he'd show up here, right. . . ? After the last time Rainbow and Sabre kicked his ass he's made sure to leave all the battling to his sire—The Nightmare King.
"You think you can ignore me forever?" A harsh voice growled, senting shivers up my spine. Before I could scatter away from the edge of the roof he jumped up, pinning me down against the dark oak ridges. "Oh baby you are surely mistaken."
Dark Steve.
While Rainbows mortal—actually immortal—enemy is The Nightmare King mine is his kin, Dark Steve, prince of darkness... And sire of my only son... Shadow Steve...
I made a few mistakes when I was separated from Rainbow—the first time I was separated, not when Sabre seperated me—one of which was hooking up with this moron.
"You're not supposed to be here," I manage to bark out, "Rainbow and Sabre will kill you, again." His lips twitch into a smirk as he tilts his head to the side thoughtfully.
"Listen my little moonshine," He leans down, warm lips barely brushing over my cold ones. "We both know Rainbow took a little trip to the one place he's not supposed to be, and Sabre has left for the night. You're all alone baby."
Moonshine. Such a stupid name. He's been calling me that since he's met me, says it's because I'm strong and used to sneak around during the night to avoid being caught. Though I still do that.
"How do you know that Rainbows not back yet?" I snap back, trying to pull myself back so I wasn't under the prince of darkness. His hand grabbed my hip suddenly, holding me in place.
"Maybe I ran into him on my way here, he's surprisingly okay that I want to see you." Dark smirked, though it never met his eyes. So hollow and empty, though a small hint of something shines through, desperately trying to find my attention.
"I call bull shit," I snap back to reality, taken aback by the harshness in my tone. His eyes smug look vanishes for a split second before it quickly returns, masking the disappointment. "H-he'd never agree to you invading his home."
"I'm not 'invading', I'm simply just came to see you." Dark's voice softens as he grasps one of my hands, bringing it to his lips and peppering soft kisses on my palm. "My love."
Knots tighten in my stomach, images of the past that have been haunting my psyche for years replay for what must be the millionth time, "I am not your love, we are—and were—nothing."
"That's where you're wrong, my love." He spits the last words out, trying to provoke me like he always does. "You and I were something, whether you like it or not, but you used to love me, even said 'yes' when I asked you to stand by my side forever—and let's not bring Shadow into this debate, cause their existence is evidence that you have loved me, now admit you still do."
"Love can fade you know," Now I was the one smirking. How stupid could he be to not get the hint and leave me alone? "Not once for sixty years did you try to find me, what's so special about now?"
Darks face falls, his eyes darkening until there was barely the slightest hint of ruby visable, I know the darkness is speaking to him, telling him to just finish me now, but he doesn't, to my surprise Dark just lays down.
His head presses to my chest and his arms slip under my to hold himself closer, our hearts—or whatever he had in his chest—beat at in irregular rythem. "What do you think you're doing?"
"Don't. Just don't talk anymore." He sounded as desperate as he looked, and for the first time tonight it dawns on me that something might have happened at the Nightmare Palace to have him acting like this.
Dark used to have these episodes when he'd come crawling to our bed after a fight with his sire—The Nightmare King—he wouldn't say anything as he slipped under the sheets and cuddled against my stomach, pressing soft kisses against the ingravings of gold—which only appeared when I was carrying Shadow, let me just say combining powers to create a new body for a Steve fucking painful, for both party's—and held on to me as hard as he possible could, as if he knew one day I wouldn't be there to comfort him.
"Bad night?" After a few moments of silence I finally ask. My hands brush through his black hair, stroking the soft strands between my fingers soothingly.
All Dark responded with was a soft nod. Now I understand why he came here so late, willing to risk it all if he got caught.
"Do you remember what I said to you when I asked you to stay by my side forever?"
"That even if I said no that you would force the ring onto my finger and kidnap me." I respond, carefully adjusting myself under his weight. "Or that you'd keep asking until I said yes?"
Dark snickers, drawing patterns on the exposed skin of my back with his fingers, "No, the other thing," He sighs, "I said that 'Even though you'll hate me some day, I'll still love you'."
"Last time I saw you was when you were trying to kill Sabre and I in the tundra and you screamed 'I hate you!'."
"That was to the chicken-man."
"Uh-huh, sure."
The prince of darkness sits up, caging me against the roof once again, "I mean it, moonshine, I don't hate you—the chicken-man and Rainbow, yes."
"Prove it." Not the best choice of words, we both know we'll regret anything that happens in the morning, but now that Dark's lips are pressed back against mine, I couldn't care less.

I LIED, THE DARK ROMANCE CHAPTER IS GONNA HAVE TO WAIT CAUSE I'M STUCK. BUT HAVE SOME DARK X LIGHT FLUFF CAUSE IDK I WANTED TO WRITE ABOUT DIVORCED PARENTS BICKERING LIKE THEIR STILL MARRIED.
I was looking back on some old writing of mine and realized how much better it is compared to how I write now—
And YES Lights nickname is Moonshine like how Rainbows nickname is Sunspot cause it's the sun and moon, which they kinda represent if you think abt it hard enough— (or would Light be the sun? IDK BUT I LIKE THEIR NICKNAMES!)
ALSO FOR THE THINGY MAGIGY I SAID ABT MPREG—What's the nonbinary term of mpreg actually??—
This goes for all Steve (for my hc) but basically they don't give birth they just combine powers to create the "body" (which I think is canon but I haven't watched sl or rq for a while) and the carrier develops the personalitys and powers in them I guess???? IT'S HARD TO EXPLAIN.
but the gold ingravings are just there to show someone is carrying cause their stomachs don't really change sizes.AGAIN THIS IS JUST MY HEADCANONS. I ONLY CREATED IT BECAUSE I DIDN'T UNDERSTAND HOW EVERYTHING WORKS IN THE SHOW SO I CREATED HEADCANONS TO UNDERSTAND.
PLZ DON'T LEAVE HATE BECAUSE OF IT OR CAUSE YOU HAVE YOUR OWN HEADCANONS. Again I haven't watched rq or sl in a while so if they DO explain it in that I really don't remember.
WORD COUNTS? WHAT ARE THOSE??? (1468)
