A few weeks later, winter was over. Snow was melting all over the forest, and the animals came outside to look for food.
The bears had come out of their hibernation, and were ready for some fresh salmon from the river. Plants and trees were growing again, and it was mating season fir many animals in the forest.
Blizzard and Spruce had found Icicle and Maple. Soon after Blizzard mated with Icicle, and Spruce mated with Maple, the four wolves headed out into the forest to hunt for elk.
They soon came across an elk herd. After getting into a formation, the four wolves chased after the elk until they brought one down and killed it.
Blizzard, Spruce, Icicle and Maple all howled together. Meanwhile, Gashtooth had mated with a female wolf named Gashpaw. She stayed in Gashtooth's den as he hunted.
Gashtooth's coyote friends had also mated and were hunting. As well as taking meat from the other wolves when they weren't looking. Winter was officially over.
