"Will she be okay?" A voice whispered through the fog that was my mind.

"She should be fine, but she needs to take it easy for a while." Another answered. They continued to whisper.

"Nghn..." I moaned. The voices stopped suddenly.

"Kitty? Are you alright?" For a second I panic, wondering how this voice knew my name. Then I remember that it's stitched into my hoodie.

"H-hai." I stuttered, opening my pink eyes. "W-where am I, n-nya?"

I'm in a super clean room. The walls are a beige color, with a few paintings on the walls. A pair of black chairs sat on the wall to my right, and a dresser on my left.

I myself was laying in a huge fluffy bed with white covers. Pillows prop my head up.

"You're in the Suoh household." A kind looking man answered. He had brown hair and hazel eyes. His face was wrinkled, suggesting either age or overwork.

Wait, did he say Suoh?

I don't know what for, but the Suoh family is famous. Not to mention rich. So why was I here?

"--To stay in bed for at least a week." The doctor, a man in a white coat, was saying. "Alright, Miss Kitty?"

"A-ano, hai." I agreed, shifting in bed. My hoodie was still on. The doctor left, leaving me with Mr. Suoh.

He sat in a chair.

"So, Kitty is it?" He asked, smiling. I nodded. "Do you have a last name?"

"N-no, Suoh-san." I said, ducking my head and looking at my hands, which were folded in front of me.

"Why not, Kitty-chan?" He asked. I looked over at him and saw he was looking at me with concern.

"I-I'm an o-orphan, Suoh-san." I stuttered. He sat up straight, looking determined.

"Then I will adopt you, Kitty-chan!" He pledged. "What orphanage are you living in?"

I ducked my head again, avoiding eye contact.

"...I ran away." I whispered. Mr. Suoh's eyebrow furrow in confusion.

"Gomen, what?" He asked.

"I-- I ran away, Suoh-san." I said louder, tears threatening to spill. "From Saint Jerome's Orphanage."

"Hmm..." Mr. Suoh mused. He stood up. "I will be back, Kitty-chan."

He retreated out the door. I sat there for a few minutes before realizing something.

I let him call me Kitty-chan. I only let people who I trust call me that.

Guess I trusted him then.

Something else hit me.

He was adopting me.

I'm wasn't going to be an orphan anymore.

Maybe being stabbed in the stomach wasn't such a bad thing after all.

Who am I kidding, being stabbed sucks.
