Dead Man

I never met the dead man
Though the town mourned his name.
He collapsed right on my street
But I'll never see his grave.

I never met the dead man
The black, unholy ghost
The people burn money and things to call him to them
Though I burn sage to tell him to go.

I never met the dead man
Because to this day
I refuse to think that
I may have caused his death in some way.
