"Dear God,
"Why would Kelly be so rude?
I only sang like everyone else and she said I was showing off.
God, you know I'm not like that.
She and her friends formed a circle around me during lunch and kept saying things like, 'you pretend too much' and 'you've plenty of attitude'.
"Silly or not, I almost cried. Almost.
The tears were going to spill out, but I didn't let them fall. Not one bit.
"Did you hear? Did you hear at all? Because all the while, God, I was saying your name. Of course, they didn't hear. It was all inside my head.
"Please don't make me cry. Please don't let there be tears. Please just make them stay inside.
"Maybe you did or maybe you didn't. But even though you never showed up, I want to thank you. Because if it weren't for you, I'd be called a wimp next."
