Alfie’s POV
It was my time to speak. All the eyes were on me as I got up and headed to the center of the room. My throat was dry from my nervousness and my eyes were filling with tears. I was giving my little princess away to her prince. I could see my wife Y/N sitting at the table beside our beautiful daughter, tears falling from her eyes. We did good in raising her, she’ll lead a good life. I took a deep breath and looked straight at my daughter. “I remembered when you were first born; the first thing I promised myself was that I would be the best father for you. I’d win father of the year, try to keep you happy and give you a good life till I wasn’t here anymore. I remember when I taught you how to ride a bike and I remember you coming home excited to be in the school play even though it was a minor role. I was still there and I filmed it all.” I wiped the back of my hand to dry the tears falling from my eyes. “We got in some fights while you were growing up. I hope that you understand that now, the reason why I forbade you to do those things was because I had done them before and I didn’t want you to make the same mistake. I remember the numerous times you came home telling us you had a new boyfriend. I was happy you were so open as to tell your mother and I these things. It made us close. I’d always hope that if he’d ever break your heart, you’d be strong and I was never once proven wrong. You kept your friends close and always looked at the bright side of things. I love you Y/D/N.” I put the microphone back on the stand as the people in the room stood up to clap. I headed over to my little girl and took her in my arms. “Live and love. Just find the best part of me in you.” I smiled at her before engulfing her in a hug. Giving away your child was so hard, but it’s easier when you know she’ll be fine without you.
