Chapter 4 Dance Of Dreams
Ok, I thought, Recap. I’m in the dream realm and this jerk named Ziall is trying to kill me and control the entire earth’s population, including animals supposedly. When I fell into nothingness I swear I saw a cat at out the corner of my eye. A black one, for bad luck, but hey, I was already in a life or death situation what else could go wrong?
BAM! I smacked to the ground. Well, at least I expected too, but the fall was light and empty, like I was just a feather, but at extreme speed. No, I couldn’t handle this anymore. I didn’t even bother to open my eyes. I wouldn’t believe this until I saw it.
I concentrated as hard as I good. My mind completely focused on one thing, reality, my reality. OK, I told myself, I am going to wake up. To my surprise things began to feel more real and then suddenly I was in the comfort of my purple blanket covered bed.
The weight of the world had just lifted off my shoulders, or had it? Slowly but anxiously I walked into my parents bedroom. They were asleep. I approached them quietly but then began shaking my father’s shoulders.
“WAKE UP!” I screamed on the verge of tears. I didn’t want to go back to the dream realm. In fact, I didn’t want to ever sleep again. I wanted to be in reality, with everybody else, but that wasn’t going to happen.
I breathed deeply and stood up. I saw it for myself, there was no other way. Standing up straighter I was convinced I could do this. I was ready for takedown. I ran over to my room, laid down in my bed, and closed my eyes. Staying completely focused, I drifted back into sleep in a matter of minutes. I prayed my mind would be able to find May again.
Opening my eyes, I stood in a fancy ballroom. Golden tables lined the room on one side and silver table with silver platters holding odd food I’ve never seen before. The whole ceiling was a glass window displaying the star-filled night sky. You’d think it’d be a scene out of Cinderella, which I knew all too way because of my little sister Casey, she died of cancer a few years. I couldn’t afford to think of her, I shook the memories away. The disco ball, colorful lights, shining dance floor, and heavy music, swerved away from the princess fantasy ball. It was a dance, my dream dance, literally.
My purple-tinted eyes moved to the center of the room. Relief washed over me when I spotted Maysilee talking, well most likely flirting, with two extremely attractive guys. Noticing me, she excused herself, and ran to my side.
“WHERE HAVE YOU BEEN? I thought you ditched me!” May said angrily.
“I was in reality. I’m sorry, I had to see it for myself,” I responded feeling slightly guilty.
Quick to forgive, not to forget, she became her normal self again. I noticed she had changed her outfit to a white dress, tightened by a black belt on the top, leaving the rest of the dress flowing into a circular shape. An intricate black lace pattern traveled down the side. It wasn’t too casual, yet it wasn’t too fancy. Her hair was in perfect curls spiraling down her dress in the front.
“What?” she asked noticing my staring, “We get kick-ass Violet powers and you don’t expect me to use them?”
Feeling out of place, I managed to change my skirt and jean jacket to a shiny, dark purple dress. It had a similar shape to May’s, but instead of lace, black flowers lined my waist.
“That’s better” May remarked.
“So… What do you think the catch is? I mean, what do we have to solve,” I asked looking around.
“We’ll find out soon enough, won’t we?” May answered prepared, “Let’s just hope you didn't waste all your energy on your reality check”
“YOU’RE the one who changed your clothes. Well your ‘imaginary’ ones,” I shot back, but in a playful way.
“True! So did you though,” May said then pointing to the guys she was talking with earlier, “The one with the light hair, that’s Sky. The dark haired one is James. James is SUPER hot. He’ll be mine by the end of the night… they’re both Violets.”
That made total sense. Sky was the guy who saved me back in the fire. I was really excited to talk to him, but something told me I wouldn’t have time. I had to find the catch.
“That means we only have to find one more Violet! Now go get him,” I said with a wink. I would soon be getting Sky.
I gave her privacy, while I searched the dream. Nothing was out of the ordinary, besides the dream in general. I glanced over, May and James we’re rocking out like it was the last night of their lives. I went in the crowd and started dancing. There was nothing wrong, and I wanted to have fun while Ziall seemed to be off our backs. Maybe me and Sky could… the song stopped. It was now slow music. It would be way too awkward.
Typical May, I observed, when my eyes peaked back towards her. She’s known the guy for what, 15 minutes? And was already making out with him. In the process of rolling my eyes, they caught something in the glass ceiling. A crack.
My Violet power just wasn’t there. I couldn’t feel a thing. Concentrating wasn’t happening. Time for plan B.
“MAY! JAMES! SKY! LOOK UP!” I shrieked. I fought my way through the crowd. No need to be polite to figments of my mind. I yanked May back and we all ran under a table as fast as we could in our dresses and suits.
“Why couldn’t you do it?”May asked over all the screaming.
“I don’t know!” I shouted back frustrated. The truth was, I was just out of energy. I put everyone in danger when I went to reality.”
We covered our ears while shards of glass seemed to cascade endlessly onto the glossy floor. It abruptly stopped. May, Sky, and James were all ok. No one had joined the fades. In fact, I had more energy than ever.
May and James did too apparently, because they were making out again. They really are a good couple, I thought.
A mini gasp escaped from my lips as Sky held my hand. I looked over at him casually, but I was having very girly fantasies in my head. Then, BAM! The whole dream crumples and we’re falling into nothingness. This time I was ready. I wanted to fight Ziall and his whole army. Time to take them to their knees.
