We followed the giant of a man across Hogsmead until we reached a giant lake that reflected the castle like a mirror, each tower standing out in the darkness, each window light flicking in the moonlight. Every 1st year gazes up in awe and I smile to myself, I’m finally here. Someone taps my shoulder and I turn around to see Lucas grinning at me

“Cool isn’t it?” He says, looking up at the castle. I nod in response and he pokes me again

“What?!” I say looking at him

“Want to share a boat with me?” He asks

“Sure.” I say shrugging lightly

We walk over to the boats and clamber in one, it sways as we get in and I groan

“I hate boats…” I mutter

“You better not throw up on me.” Lucas says to me only half joking

“I’ll try my hardest…”

The boat glides out across the lake and I can’t help but admire the view despite my sea sickness, the way the castle shimmers in the lake, and the forest blends into the night. Eventually we reach the other side and are guided up to a huge door way where a tall thin older witch stands.

“Welcome to Hogwarts, I am Professor McGonagall. You will now be taken into the great hall to be sorted. The sorting hat will put you in the house best sorted to your personality, your house will be like your family at Hogwarts, when you achieve well, Your house will be awarded House Points, breaking of rules will resort in a loss of house points, Good luck.”

I see Lucas smile at me as he whispers

“What if you have no idea where you’re going to be sorted, What if it tells you to go home...” he teases

“Shut up!!!” I say elbowing him in the ribs

“Ow!”

“You two. Be quite!” Snaps Professor McGonagall

I roll my eyes and follow everyone into the great hall; the older students watch us as we walk in and line up down the middle of the four tables. Professor McGonagall reads out a list of names and I watch to start with but my mind keeps wondering, I just can’t help thinking about where I’ll be placed. I notice how some people take a while to get sorted and others heads barely touch the hat before it yells out their house.

"Lauren Woodman" a girl walks up to the sorting hat and it soon yells

"SLYTHERIN!" She grins happily and walks over to the Slytherin table

All too soon I hear my name

“Sky Hartlli.” She calls

I walk up confidently and hop onto the stall, I see Lucas smiling reassuringly at me as it drops over my eyes and all I can see is darkness.

“Ah….Miss Hartlli” Whispers the hat in my ear, sounding in deep thought

“What an interesting mind you have here, very interesting….” It continues

“Powerful…more than you could ever know in fact, Very powerful indeed….But power isn’t what you require, not yet….Your brave I see, Yes,  What a challenge to sort you, So much going round in your little head…”

Get on with it already! I think, knowing it can hear me

“Very well…” It says slowly

“Better be…”

Mwahahahaha I’m so evil! Not really, No ones really reading this anyway and It’s kinda obvious where she will be, but oh well. Read, Comment, Vote and Stuff if you want that is  - Kirsty
